Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting
.”
Psalm 139:23-24

Everything happens for a reason.
Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck.
Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity
all occur to test the limits of your soul.

I never thought about this before....
what do you mean, everything happens to test the limits of our souls?
[My understanding] When we test our strength, it's to know what we can or cannot do. The same as in life:
To know what you can or cannot do is important. Being tested by our circumstances
will tell us a lot about ourselves.

The whole book of 139 talks of how God knows us intimately. God knows our every thought and examines us closely. From the moment of our conception God is with us and possessed our inner being (Ps 139:13). God allows trials to test us our coming and goings for our good.

There is a lot of food for thought in this Psalm.

It's always amazing how you can read through the same passages and find something new. I think in part it is because this is how God builds our understanding. Regardless I find it a fascinating process God has set before us. :)

I am in full agreement with you. When we take time to study His Word,
then meditate on its meaning, then apply it to our life - I believe our God will reward us for our efforts.
