The beauty industry.

Tattoo, hair dyes, liposuction, piercings, fashion, style and anything else that falls under altering our appearance for the sake of beauty. What makes them a sin?

--------------------

I had my hair cut, shorter than normal, because it was unruly, and, as we get older, it dosent seem to keep a style as well as it used to. One could say my reasons were partly not to scare anyone.

The bible says:

1 Peter 3:3-4 ESV

Do not let your adorning ( To decorate)be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.

So, the first sentence seems to say it all. Its a command.

So we women must stop cutting our hair? Full Stop. Even when we think its unruly?

looking forward to your replies.

PROVERBS 16:31

“THE HOARY [GRAY] HEAD IS A CROWN OF GLORY, IF IT BE FOUND IN THE WAY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

There are a few verses about a woman's hair. I don't think God ever calls it a sin for a woman to cut or style her hair. He does say it is a shame to have her head shaved. As for tattoos, the priests are told not to mark their bodies. Personally I haven't seen anything I would want permanently affixed to my body. Cosmetic surgeries are vanity, when done just to try to improve ones appearance. If some one was in a horrible accident and need to have such surgery to survive is a different story. God made us just the way HE wanted us to be and filled us with love. We would be better off if we all focused on sharing that love with everyone.

Hi Via I have the same problem with my hair. I think we lose the natural oils from our hair as time goes on. I use a shampoo with extra oil in it and it does help, and the conditioner too.
As long as I am clean and tidy I don't care about the rest.
Finding clothes that I think woll please God proves difficult for me. So I just try my best.
Not into beauty treatment. I just can't be bothered. With regards to the verses it is just up to the indevidual to choose for themselves. I do agree that it sounds like a commandment but others may not agree. We just have to pray for guidance.
I think we are all a bit vain.

You may need to cut hair or it will get split ends, depends on what type of hair you have though. Some people never cut theirs. Not all hair is the same.

Peter was talking about braiding not cutting. I actually can't braid my hair. It doesn't grow long enough to be put into braids and it just falls out when I do try to braid it anyway - its the kind of straight hair that DOES NOT curl.

Now, before you read this....remember that it is coming from one of the most OLD Fashioned people you will ever know.

Should Christians get tattoos and body piercing??????

Most churches today, in order to keep the congregation happy, look the other way when it come to things that are contoversia;

What does God say is the question?

Leviticus 19:28. This bible verse is often the answer to the ‘Is getting a tattoo a sin?’ question. To quote the Bible, here is what the verse says....... “You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.”

So, why does the Bible prohibit tattoos? Well, like the matter of fabrics and not mixing seeds, the reason why the Israelites were warned against getting their bodies tattooed has to do with the fact that all the pagan communities that surrounded the Israelites marked themselves with tattoos, and it would seem that the bible verse warning against tattoos was a warning by God for the Israelites.

It speaks of the Bibles claim to Christians to ..."Come out of the world and be ye separate".

But...that is not what we do is it. Most people live their lives so close to the flame of sin that their eyebrows are chinged, permanently!
