The price for sin is death.
Throughout the law there are many references of making offerings that are without blemish for sin offerings (for forgiveness).
We are shown in scripture that the life of a creature is in its blood and that there can be no forgiveness.
A life must be shed for a life to be saved, but the law shows us that some sacrifices have greater value than others by allowing certain creatures to be sacrificed for many people instead of just one person.
Jesus was a man without sin (without blemish), and He was also God in the flesh.
He shed His blood (and His life) as a final and total offering for our sin.
It is the shed blood of Jesus that saves us. His sacrifice was the last one needed.
We have to repent of our sin, accept the sacrifice that Jesus made, turn to Him, trust in Him, and follow Him.
