THE INTERPRETATION OF REVELATION

THE INTERPRETATION OF REVELATION

The interpretation of Revelation has always been a subject of debate among Bible interpreters. The interpreters of Revelation are divided into three main schools: (1) the preterists, (2) the historicists, and (3) the futurists.

You said, in speak of the interpretation of the Revelation that........
"in the book there is a little bit of all 3 ".

Actually there are 5 "Views" on how the Revelation should be interpreted.

I am very gladd you are a "Pre-Trib" person so that you can be on my side!

Actually there are 5 "Views"
what are the other views. i hold to pretrib in another forum a poster replied with this on pre trib

The following is from Corrie Ten Boom in 1974. And I agree. God will do what He will... but I must prepare for whatever may happen.

...In America, our Christianity is a soft, easy Christianity ripe for teachings that endorses a “pre-tribution” view of the rapture, but here’s what Corrie had to say in her 1974 letter regarding what happened to the Christians in China who were taught the same type of teaching back before the Communist revolution in 1949:

“In China, the Christians were told, ‘Don’t worry, before the tribulation comes you will be translated – raptured.’ Then came a terrible persecution. Millions of Christians were tortured to death. Later I heard a Bishop from China say, sadly:

We have failed. We should have made the people strong for persecution, rather then telling them Jesus would come first. Tell the people how to be strong in times of persecution, how to stand when the tribulation comes–to stand and not faint.

“I feel I have a divine mandate to go and tell the people of this world that it is possible to be strong in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are in training for the tribulation, but more than sixty percent of the Body of Christ across the world has already entered into the tribulation. There is no way to escape it. We are next.”
(source here).... i dont know how to get it into peoples heads pre trib is not a sift approach . i teach as Christians we will face tribulation in this world
but the tribulation Jesus is speaking of is Not the great tribulation . in fact he said In ME you shall have peach. in this world you will have tribulation be of good cheer i have over come the world.

pre trib does not mean we will not experience hard ship of nay kind sickness family trouble money problems etc. in some cases death for our faith. i have had lots backlashes over pre trib. one by a admin in another forum..

Well...........actually I misspoke when I said there are 5. Actually I think that there are FOUR (4) views (understandings) of the Revelation.

"Pre-Tribulation" Is NOT a view of the Revelation brother. It is rather a teaching which is said that the Rapture takes place BEFORE the 7 year Tribulation.

The Rapture is the Resurrection of the born again believers and is part of the 1st Resurrection which in in phases/stages. Some say that there are 3 stages, some say 4 and some say 5.

Some do not believe in a physical resurrection. Some ...YOU & ME believe in a physical resurrection of the saints before the 7 year Tribulation which is termed....."Pre-Tribbers"
Some belive in a resurrection at the 3 and 1/2 year time frame and they are called "Mid-Tribbers".
Some bbelieve in a resurrection of saints AFTER the Tribulation = A-millinialists.

The 4 theological views of the Revelation are in fact..............

1. Futurist
This "View" says that the Tribulation is yet to come. It will be A seven year span as prophesied. Futurists apply a literal approach to interpreting Revelation. In other words, what we read is what God said and what God said is what He wanted us to know.

2. Preterist
This "View" says that the Tribulation already took place in 70 AD. The preterist view focuses on prophesies in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 applying the tribulation to Romans rather than the whole world. Further more, preterists view Matthew 24:34 as a clear sign the tribulation took place among a generation that lived within the first century.

3. Historist
This "View" is similar to the preterist placing the tribulation starting in the first century around 70 AD. However, historists apply the judgment to the Jews rather than the Romans focusing on scripture from Matthew and Luke’s gospel which they believe to be the beginning of the tribulation. Historists believe the tribulation continues throughout the centuries ending in 1948 with the restoration of the nation of Israel or, at the return of Jerusalem to Jewish control in 1967. Rather than a single being, the historist view sees the papacy, Islam and other cults as the Antichrist.

4. Idealist
This was actually the 1st "View" from early church fathers. According to this view, the events of Revelation are not tied to specific historical events. The imagery of the book symbolically presents the ongoing struggle throughout the ages of God against Satan and good against evil. In other words, the Revelation is "Allegorical"!
