The Millennium: Overview.

OVERVIEW

We are in momentous times as God`s purposes are unfolding. Soon the Gentile`s Rule will come to an end and Israel, God`s chosen nation will rule the world. Before that happens we know that there will be a period of great conflict and trouble, as Jesus said,

`such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.` (Matt. 24: 21)

It will be a time when the rebellious nations are judged and the nation of Israel has to go under its final chastisement, till their wonderful deliverance by the Lord Himself at the battle of Armageddon.

Deliverance amid the devastation, peace amid the rubble, and great joy when all hope had seemed lost. The Lord`s return to this sin-stricken world will herald in a new era of peace where those who are alive will enter in to learn of God`s ways and come to know of His glory from Jerusalem.

This is the time that was foretold by the Old Testament Prophets, when God will reign through His chosen nation and mankind will learn to live under God`s rule without the influence of Satan, (locked in the pit).

Amazing as it will be to live in such a time, mankind`s sinful heart still desires its own way and thus there will be a final rebellion led by Satan (who is released). It is quickly dealt with by God.

This period of time is called the Millennium as it is for one thousand years. There is much in God`s word that tells us of this period, so we can look at -

What is God`s purpose for the Millennium?

What will the world be like going into the Millennium?

What changes will occur during that time?

Who will be able to live in that time?

What sort of life will they lead?

(Note: it is important to realize that we, the Body of Christ will be with Christ in the third heaven and not on earth at all during the tribulation and millennium.)

Hello Marilyn;

The Millenium: Overview
is going to happen. It's Biblical so it's imperative we be ready.

What is God`s purpose for the Millennium? There will be many purposes and one of them is God will fulfill His purpose of our Lord and Savior's dominion and reign.

What will the world be like going into the Millennium? There will be significant changes as Jesus reigns the world will enjoy peace from war. Satan will be bound and unable to entice people into sin.

What changes will occur during that time? There will be many changes fulfilling God's purpose including the time people will live without the fear of sin and even longer lives.

Who will be able to live in that time? The resurrected and righteous people who are saved at Christ's second coming.

What sort of life will they lead? In Jesus' 1000 reign God will demonstrate a harmony and perfect obedience on all 4 corners of the earth. This will include prosperity.

These answers are fundamental but even the seasoned Christian and Bible student struggle with getting ready.

God's Unconditional Love Jesus will demonstrate this in the Millenium. In this life we still struggle with receiving His unconditional love and passing our love to all peoples. This is not what Jesus teaches.

Matthew 22:34-40, 34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sad′ducees, they came together. 35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, to test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.” - RSV

Unforgiveness How can we not forgive one another from yesterday, days, months or years ago? I never thought that unforgiveness can go this far. We can apply our own approach forgiveness on our terms but this is not Biblical.

Genesis 50:15-21,
15 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “What if Joseph holds a grudge against us and pays us back for all the wrongs we did to him?” 16 So they sent word to Joseph, saying, “Your father left these instructions before he died: 17 ‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph wept. 18 His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said. 19 But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. 21 So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them. - NIV

Forgiveness is hard and this is why God empowers us to forgive even the most heinous sin against us. Our forgiveness to the other can have an impact later in life for both the one seeking forgiveness and the one who forgives.

Preparing for Christ's Return By striving to live daily in righteousness even when we encounter evil.

Proverbs 21:21, 21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour. - KJV

Matthew 6:33, 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. - ESV

If we continue our bruised egos and hardened hearts toward others, it will get in the way of Christ's Return instead of countering it. If we don't prepare now then the teaching of The Millenium: Overview will be in vain.

Matthew 24: 13-14, 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.

God bless you, Marilyn, and Happy Holidays.

Hi Bob,

Great notes there. Thank you. And certainly, we need to be always ready for the Lord`s return and telling people of the hope we have in Jesus.
