The Money in Banks

I tread here very carefully, Politics in the US, has a very different split. Here in the UK, we have the left, split between centre left and communist, then the centrists, split between social democrats and social liberals, and the right, split between centre right, and far right, and whats called one nation conservatism, Then there are many shades in-between. However I think no matter the system or country, no system runs perfect capitalism as stated by Hayek "the invisible hand". In fact there are laws, regulations, controls, tax breaks, and good old fashioned nepotism, that skew the market. We need to be careful about skewing it so far its unjust. By the way I consider myself a social democrat. Hope that is not too contentious.

Someone a long time ago said that The American form of government is not all that good, but it is a lot better than any thing else available.

Personally, I was raised in a home of a red dog democrat. That means my father would vote for a rattlesnake if it ran for any office.

As I grew older and the DNC made their position of abortion and homosexuality clear, I could not in any way support that agenda as it is 100% in opposition to the Word of God.

Proverbs 24:10-12 seems to speak directly to this position......…..
"If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?"

My only view here was to show that a free economy is not. I was extremely careful not to state a view on USA politics, although have a degree in politics which means I understand the GOP and the Democrats more than most outsiders, and indeed a significant majority of Americans. On the two issues you mention, the whole issue empahasis of the bible is that laws changed nothing, even God's own civil laws, he was at pains to point out people could not keep them. His ceremonial laws all pointed to the Messiah/Christ/ Jesus. Im not advocating breaking the law, let alone the commandment. I do believe understanding, forgiveness, grace and prayer are far more powerful. It will never be the law that makes a Church but prayer. That may include praying for homosexuals and women, devastated because they felt the need to abort. 90% of women who abort deal with psychological issues in their 40s and 50s and the majority suffer guilt of one kind or another, a Christian harvest field. just one more point backstreet abortionists will thrive in a nation that legislates against it. Just as God's law banned prostitution and yet Judah was able to find one, and Jesus was able to free more than one. The prostitution he was mainly concerned about was worshiping other god's, but i think we digress.

Just a note, I was talking with my wife about her sons income, and she corrected my math, so it would be less than I figured with the new contract. He tends to work holidays and double shifts which is time and a half, but the average at his level of seniority will still be above the average for the nurses and teachers.
Even more of a note, she talked to him late last night and he sounded grim. I couldn't understand why till I saw the news this morning. "100 American Airlines flight attendants test positive for coronavirus, reports say"..

Pray for the flight attendants.
I am surprised that many airlines didn't take precautions earlier. They will go under. They didn't make health and safety a priority for their staff and passengers which is really sad.

This is what happens when profits are put over people.

That is true Lanolin, yet at another level, People want faster, easier, better and cheaper air flights. I think perhaps we all need to look at what we want in life. America is a great nation, quality of people and size, yet many wish to leave for their vacation. Some who have not seen the treasures within your own borders. Yet, I speak as one with a fear of flying, still I wouldn't venture far anyway. I ask all when you look for cheap, then the wages will be low, the quality low, in those positions a business, will look for savings. I'm neither red or blue, sort of a mellow purple.

Well, 18 of his fellow workers have tested positive, and some have died, and he was going over what his life insurance will do..... Not good.

Thats terrible.

I don't like flying much. I have a passport but haven't used it since it was updated.
Flights have gotten much cheaper, but I still wouldn't go anywhere unless it was really necessary.

Our national airline was still sending out marketing stuff to its 'stakeholders' trying to assure people that they would still be in business. It made me sick to read that they wouldn't address the real issue, that they put all the people in my country at risk because they neglected to check ALL flights coming into the country. Not just from Wuhan.

I don't expect an apology but to hear marketing speak from the CEO really grates on me and totally disrespectful of innocent people's lives.

Yes legislation...like what they did with plastic bags...

I keep seeing this Proverb 29:2

Very often the righteous are not in authority...it's the wicked who are and make life miserable for everyone...

agreed Lanolin, we dont get the Government we want, but the one we deserve as a nation, not individuals. the lesson of Israel choosing Saul, and their reasons, to fight the Goliaths, but who fought them and in whose strength

My experience is that you will get what you pay for.

A 1992 Ford F150 truck is not going to give you the things that a 2020 Cadillac will.

well..you must be rich major.
Most people would call it bribery and corruption to PAY officials rather than vote for them. I don't really know exactly where you live, but here in nz, we don't give money to our bosses/superiors as we don't have any...money that is. If people are known to pay for parties to be voted in, then that always gives advantage to wealthier voters, which is unequal in our supposedly egalitarian society.

Mostly a cadillac is a useless gas guzzler anyway. But Fords are also notorious gas guzzlers. Most people here would go for a practical and reliable Toyota that lasts and is more efficient to run.

The Dog and Lemon Guide can be a useful reference...if only we could use it to pick our officials instead of the miniature pamphlet they always send out at elections listing all the candidates.

True as well. Maybe because we only have one bucket?

Ok, I have he honest with you, in that I have not read the details of this plan. Here is a summary:

View attachment 4618

Now, I tell you what I don't like: It is called a "stimulus plan." This $1,??? is intended to allow people to go buy consumer goods, but no one ever does. Not to mention that anyone making $75k (filing alone) or $150k (filing jointly) will need to pay this back within 3 years. So, it is really a loan and not a gift. Through the grace of God, I would be one of those paying it back and, at least at this moment, have no need for it.

Guess we will see how this phase of the insanity works out.

Well looks like Nancy Pelosi is getting another bucket ready, even if we have to mortgage our children's future till the proverbial third generation. Not good in my book, need to wait to see how the reopening works as in any crisis, some on the edge businesses will not survive, and some were bankrupt already just hiding it. So, they will be gone it seems..

In NZ I'm under the impression it's a gift we do not have to pay back, otherwise its just another sneaky shark loan.

I do not work in a bank so am not sure how exactly they are viewing things. But one of my cousins did work in wall street as an investment banker. And from what I hear from him, he just plays around with other peoples money. Puts some here, puts some there, and sees if its grows so they can get even richer.

Yea I'm not going to see it for another 15 years so someone is playing round with my money getting rich while I feed into it and wont see a cent.
And I have no idea what they are investing it in. It's not really transparent, its might be oil companies or casinos, or maybe weaponry or chemical warfare for all I know. It's not like the investors ever put it into Schools or Hospitals, or churches. They aren't listed on the stock exchange.
