THE RUSSIAN WAR: Before the Tribulation.

In the near future, the armies of the Russian Federation and the other 3 nations (Iran, Ethiopia and Libya), will come to the mountains of Israel to destroy Israel as a nation.

Down from the north will come the Russian Federation. They will lead a great army - the Russian military, the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) other Republics, and Slavic nations. Iran will also be with them coming from the east. Then up from the south of Israel will come Libya and Ethiopia, heading for the mountains of Israel. (Ez. 38: 7, 9, 16)

The Prophet Joel tells us that this is the beginning of the Day of the LORD.

`Blow a trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm on my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the Day of the LORD is coming it is at hand. A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, like the morning clouds spread over the mountains, a people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them, even for many successive generations.` (Joel 2: 1 & 2)


God intervenes and brings judgment upon them –

`And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed. I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire and brimstone.` (Ez. 38: 22)

In the confusion and terror, the armies turn on each other and `everyman`s sword will be against his brother.` (V. 21) Most of the armies are annihilated.

For seven months the bodies of the great armies will be buried in a valley - the Valley of Hamon Gog, (the multitude of Gog/people). When travelers see bones along their way they put up a marker for the search parties to find and bring the bones to the valley. (Ez. 39: 11 - 16) Israel as a nation, will start to return to their God.

`So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day forward.` (Ez. 39: 22)



The Month of Adar – the Feast of Purim.

This is the month for Israel to rejoice over deliverance from its enemies. It is an added Feast Day and was started when Esther interceded for her nation. Israel then celebrated national deliverance each year after that. (Esther 9: 18 – 21)

In Jerusalem it will be on the 15th of Adar and that will be also when Israel celebrates God`s deliverance from the Russian Federation.

 
Application.

We can see across our world Europe and America building up for war. Those who make the armaments are the only ones who make anything out of these wars. The young people are just `fodder` for the bombs and bullets etc.

God`s word says that He will turn Russia (the far north nation Ez. 38: 15) around and bring them down to the mountains of Israel. (Ez. 38: 4 Ez. 39: 2) God`s word says that Israel will dwell safely, (Ez. 38: 8) thus, Israel will have finished the war with Hamas etc.

Knowing God`s word that He will deal with Russia and Iran`s etc great war machines helps us to realize that man is not in control, but God is. And God`s judgment is soon coming.

`Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD and against His anointed, saying, "Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us."

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the LORD shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure. `(Ps. 2: 1 - 5)

How can we know for sure and pinpoint the specificity of the Magog invasion with Russia, Iran, Ethiopia and Libya having a major role in the prophecy in Ezekiel?

Anyone can hone in on the same Scriptures and predict the role or roles of called nations that will bring Truth according to God's Word.

In my studies of Ezekiel, Daniel, Jeremiah, Matthew, Revelation, etc...I do believe in the coming of the Tribulation but have difficulty in the roles of said countries.

We had a prophetess walk in our Sunday worship and shouted out that Jesus is coming in 2023. Of course this is false. She interrupted our guest speaker so I went out, confronted and refuted her and her son. She came back with Scriptures declaring Christ is coming in 2023 and wore a very white robe with a white veil.

I'm going to need more information to see the validity of this part of the Tribulation.

An important question.

So let`s look at Ezekiel 38: 15 `Then you will come from your place out of the far north,...` Also Ez. 38: 6, 39: 2)

The Hebrew ` tsaphon,` meaning hidden, dark, used only of the north as a quarter, (of the earth). Russia is the only one in that great expanse.

In the Prophet Joel we read `But I will remove far from you the northern army...` (Joel 2: 20) This is the same northern quarter, thus Russia.

I believe that God`s word interprets itself and is very clear. We just have to look up the original Hebrew or Greek and keep it all in line with the whole of God`s word.

The Prophet Zechariah saw the `chariots of God` going forth to bring judgments upon the nations. And the very first one was in the north.

`See those who go towards the north country have given rest to my Spirit in the north country.` (Zech. 6: 8)

Russia and Iran have recently signed a military pact together. Then just now Russia is recruiting 160,000 more soldiers. Russia has over 120 million people and so `thousands` are just a drop in the bucket.

The great Federation that will form is massive, the greatest there has ever been or ever will be.

`a people come great and strong, the like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them, even for many successive generations.` (Joel 2: 2)

God describes this nation as `his stench will come up, and foul odour will rise, because he has done monstrous things.` (Joel 2: 20)

As the USSR it portrayed itself as a friendly bear - poster 1979 Olympics. However, Daniel records it as a ferocious beast devouring much flesh. It certainly devoured country after country, incorporating them into one monolithic dominion - behind the iron curtain. (Dan. 7: 5)

Then came Perestroika promulgated by President Gorbachev, dramatically restructuring the nations of Eastern Europe. Then we know of the coup in 1991 and Boris Yeltsin seized the opportunity and assumed control and denounced the coup. Then the USSR became a `Union of Sovereign States` with Russia as the Head. The Slavic nations, once behind the `iron curtain` have gained independence but retain the same philosophy and ambitions.

This was exposed by the Israeli army in 1982.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the State of Israel reports, inter alia:-

"During the operation "Peace for Galilee", as the Israeli forces advanced through Lebanon in July 1982, they made an amazing discovery. Around the Village of Saida, the largest secret military base in the world was uncovered. It consisted of miles of steel reinforced bunkers tunnelled out of the hillside. Inside was crammed massive quantities of Soviet made arms and ammunition. It exceeded by far the highest previous intelligence estimates. I.D.F. units gathered 4170 tons (some 1,500 truckloads) of ammunition; hundreds of combat-vehicles; tanks and armoured carriers; thousands of weapons, artillery and rocket launchers, plus other sophisticated devices. These arms and stores were far in excess of P.L.O. requirements. Secret documents and maps found in the Command Post clearly revealed that the Soviets planned invasion of the Middle East on the 4th August 1982. The I.D.F. averted this Soviet invasion by just a few weeks"


However, there is an appointed time predicted. Russia will certainly invade the Middle East. World War 3 will have commenced.


Time-slot for the Invasion

Daniel provides an indication of the time-slot in his vision:-

"When the Bear starts its move ... it has three ribs in its mouth". (Daniel 7:5)

Metaphorically this represents 3 nations who have not previously been incorporated within the Bear i.e. The Iron Curtain. These now join this move into the Middle East.

Ezekiel, in his predicted military confederacy, records exactly three such countries. They precisely conform to the prerequisites.

"Persia (Iran), Ethiopia and Libya" (Ezekiel 38:5)

We note that the Day of the LORD (in Judgment) starts when this massive army is brought down to the mountains of Israel.

As the Body of Christ we know that we are NOT in darkness, NOT in the Day of the LORD (in Judgment).


`But you, brethren, are NOT in darkness that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are NOT of the night nor of darkness.` (1 Thess. 5: 4 & 5)


What we will see is the massive build up of the military coming down from Russia and other places. The media will show all this for a few days. So, when we see that Day approaching, (Heb. 10: 25) we are to encourage and warn one another, then we are to look up for our redemption draws nigh.
