There is peace and safety

Psalms 4:8 "I will both lie down in peace and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."

Sleep is a precious gift and one that many do not know with consistency. We all have had our "sleepless" nights, those nights when our minds refuse to disengage and our bodies will not cooperate either and we toss and turn through the night ever searching for that perfect spot in the bed where sleep will at long last come. I sleep well most nights, and for this I am grateful, but even when sleep eludes me I still feel at peace for I go to bed with peace of mind and I feel safe within the sight of a God who is ever watchful, a God who does not sleep or grow weary. (Psalms 121:4-8) I am very grateful for those who serve in the military to help keep us safe as a nation, and I am very grateful for the dedicated police officers who work through the night patrolling our streets to help us sleep in safety. I am grateful, but my peace and my safety comes from knowing that I am in the hands of the Lord, for to dwell in the presence of the Lord brings peace like nothing on earth can equal. May the Lord bless and keep all of us well this day and may we all dwell yet another day in safety and peace.
