Thoughts about Suffering?

Hello you and welcome.

Some friendly questions to ask :

What are your thoughts about suffering for the sake of Christ Yeshua?

What are some of your tribulations that you have made it through when suffering for the sake of Christ Yeshua?

When was a moment in your life suffering for the Lord, make a difference? For you, or someone else?

Here are some scriptures that are in the bible that do talk about suffering for the sake of the Lord, did you know they existed?

How has suffering for Christ Yeshua impacted your life?

1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
2 Corinthians 1: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Romans 5:3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Psalm 34:19 The (believer in the faith of the Lord Yeshua) righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all.
1 Peter 4:1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.
1 Peter 3:14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.”
Philippians 1: 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him

Suffering doesn't sound to fun does it.

So suffering in my life has been made know to me on the partaking of belief and trusting God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sometimes, just desire people to feel that love of the Lord Jesus Christ in their life, and it does a lot to you.

Having to be patient with other people, having to keep your mouth shut living by the spirit when you wanna lash out, holding in things that people say about other people that you know is wrong yet you let it be - if it is not dangerous of course then you might need to tell the police or higher ups.

Having to have mercy, having to have forgiveness, having to not the desire to have your flesh be jealous with Gods help, holding on to hope when you are in distress but continue to hold on to God and His Son.

Suffering is not fun. The eternal value of living as a Christian is that of looking to the things that are eternal, not the temporary of the flesh. The flesh is temporary, and everyone has flaws, God can help us through the flaws up and downs.

There are even test in our faith whether or not you are going to decide to cave-in or give up, and walk away from God.

Suffering is tough.

Hello MatthewG;

Yes, to all you mentioned regarding suffering.

In my own testimony, suffering for Christ has definitely grown me. I'm able to be there for others who understand or don't understand their own personal sufferings, especially when it happens at a moment's notice.

My suffering fuels perseverance that matures me, even in this time of my life. It's always been easy to give up but instead, I choose to endure it for Christ.

Every single chapter of suffering that I experienced, it's amazing how God has gotten me past so much. The remaining is ongoing but that too, will pass. I believe this has defined the quality of my faith.

I have also learned how suffering can be minimized when God grows me with LOVE, compassion, listening, understanding, patience, acceptance, helping others and knowledge of the Word.

Still, suffering will cross my path in my life ahead of me, but with God's guidance I am more equipped with the assurance that He is there to guide me through it all.

Suffering is tough, but there are benefits in it for the disciple of Christ.

God bless you, MatthewG, and your family.

Hello Bob,

Thank you for taking time to share your experience of your life following the Lord Jesus, and God in the way that they show love towards us yet not just us however towards others. This lifestyle choice is a difficult one, in the acceptance of suffering. You are so right about how God grows with-in us by the spirit - that produces this Love, and compassion, and listening, and understanding, and patience, and acceptance, and helping others, in the truth of the knowledge of the Word.

It will be a life of suffering until you and me both finally pass away from this life, the best choice a person can make is really trust God and the Lord Jesus Christ - for they will always be there for us. Even when the times you might question 'Where are you, why aren't you talking to me?' God is always there.

Today wrote this:

Deceptional is the world at large for it is a liar.
All mankind can easily deceive you.
Spiderwebs have many links inside of it, only 4 hold it together;
Proposal; Perception; Ponderance; Choice;
Think, ponder, question, then make the choice truth over anything else
Trying to take you away from Gods love and acceptance.
Truth shall be everlasting - - The Lord Jesus Christ remains forever.

2 Corinthians 1: 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.

Thank you for sharing again Bob, it is not easy thankfully God is a God of Comfort. :) Even through the most troubling of times.

I view suffering as opportunity. I've personally gone through many things in my life and watched others in their suffering. Suffering is never pleasant while we suffer, but I've learned to be thankful for the sufferings because they lead to growth in many ways. I've watched God do amazing things in the midst of suffering and I have felt alone and rejected at other times.

Suffering has led to empathy and God helped me to learn so much more about faith through a long period of suffering. It is during suffering that I've learned what it means (at least a glimmer) to act in faith and love.

I thank God for his merciful way of showing me his way of life more clearly. We all are promised suffering in this life that we may learn obedience. God also promises to help and deliver us and it is an awesome thing to behold.

Living in a body of death we face suffering every day . Two choices .We can suffer for doing the good will of God as he works in us with us to make it posible .Or we can suffer for doing evil the opposite . Sufering for doing the will of God makes the load lighter. . . yoked with him he gives a future hope as a living rest.

Husbands suffer for your wives build each other up just as Christ builds up the whole church Male and female Jew and gentile.

(LOL Its yes dear its probally in the last place you will look )

Cperkins, and Garee thank you both for taking time to post here. For your messages are helpful and encouraging.

My experiences in life has been that there are all kinds of sufferngs.

People with cancer suffer with the pain that comes from that disease.
People with bad hearts suffer from not being able to breath properly.
Elderly peole suffer from arthritus and other such alilments.
The truth is....living life brings all kinds of suffering.

The Buddhist studies for secondary students are told that Craving and ignorance are the two main causes of suffering. People suffer with their craving for the pleasures of the senses and become unsatisfied and disappointed until they can replace their cravings with new ones. People suffer too when they are unable to see the world as it really is and live with illusions about life and fears, hopes, facts and behaviours based on ignorance.

However, if we are talking about stress and situations where we feel "persecuted and overwhelmed" then I tell you this truth Matthew.....
most of those kinds of "sufferings" are self induced!!!!

Hello Major

You are absolutely right in what you are sharing. This is a result of sin - that our bodies breakdown and people by the choices they make can problems in the body comes faster, or slowly, which of course depends on what they may do to themselves when it comes to self-indulgence.

You know thinking about what you shared about the craving and ignorance are capable of causes of suffering; Reminds me of the self-indulgence from the scriptures that state about the Flesh in Galatians 5.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

These seem to apply for us all when it comes to the fleshly desires that derive in the pleasure senses of the brain. However to rectify this problem would be to be born again, and learn and grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and the knowledge of God.

Being renewed in the mind, by them, and being transformed, growing in grace and walking with God by faith.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."

2 Corinthians 3: 12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech— 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as [b]by the Spirit of the Lord.

So thank you for bringing up this type of suffering, the only way to be regenerated is to be reborn again and to walk with God, and we know that God is faithful, even to help us overcoming temptation.

1 Corinthians 10:13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Here is one more scripture about what you mention of ' "persecuted and overwhelmed" the scriptures tell us as believers what to expect and what to do when it comes to dealing with this type of pressure.

James 1: 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

You have shared something very helpful and true that all people have problems and sufferings.

Thank you for taking time to comment Major.

Sparks that do not kill will arise shapening the sword .It cuts as well as heals. . double edged . God has designed secst or denonantions as with tribes (kingdoms of this world) so that faithless mankind does not kill it own self. No law, no foul, no tresspass.

The faithless pagan foundation "out of sight out of mind" . Cain ignored the warning. Abel's blood from the field cries out to be clothed with the incoruptible

There must be heresies (sects) among us the kingdom of God does not come by obesrving the temporal things seen .The Goal is sufer to fo His will as the peace of God that surpasses our understanding. . giving us his faithful understanding .And not get our eyes of off Jesus as did Peter when jealous of John .Peter went to town and stareted a new law of the fathers I heard it through the grape vine. .Saying John would never die .

Matthew......I am not sure if you are going to accept what I am about to say. I say that because in all honesty, you talk "around" what you seem to be trying to not say. That leaves the door open for us to fill in that gap.

In other words.....you have not detailed anything about WHY you think you are suffering and having problems.

It might be very helpful is you stopped being politically correct and just spit out what is on your mind then we would all have a basis for comunication.

It is both WRONG and not helpful to have a concern and then search the Scriptures to find a verse that fits that concern. Just my advice.....
love or leave it!!!!

Now James 1:2 which you used to validate what your concern is speaks of "Diverse Temptations". That means TRIALS.

James is saying in plain English......When you are having troulbl, don't start complaining as if something terrible has happened to YOU!

Instead of crying......look at his words you used........REJOICE!

Count it all joy that it is GOD WHO IS TESTING YOU IN THIS WAY!

Matthew......it leads to unreality to say that you are reconciled to the will of God when troubles come to you when you are not reconciled to God. In other words, lots of people piousely say that they have accepted God's will and live in the shadow of His grace but then spend their time with a long face and a frown and cry about what is happening to them.

That right there means that that person is not reconciled to the will of God because they ARE NOT REJOICING!

Matthew.....I am not sure why you responded with --- "?".

You said in your 1st post............

You did not give any specifics or reason .... just that generic post and That was what I was speaking to!

Hello Major,

Reasons:
Sometimes, just desire people to feel that love of the Lord Jesus Christ in their life, and it does a lot to you.

Having to be patient with other people, having to keep your mouth shut living by the spirit when you wanna lash out, holding in things that people say about other people that you know is wrong yet you let it be - if it is not dangerous of course then you might need to tell the police or higher ups.

Having to have mercy, having to have forgiveness, having to not the desire to have your flesh be jealous with Gods help, holding on to hope when you are in distress but continue to hold on to God and His Son.

Thank you for your post.

Hello Lanolin,

That is true, suffering for righteousness sake, you are right. It is also suffering because of the flesh vs the spirit war inside of believers too. All Christians who believe, and are children or sons and daughters of God.

Make the choice to do your own will at any given moment, or do God's will at any given moment.

It is all a choice.

All suffer inside from the war raging inside of them for the flesh and spirit are always at war with one another. They are constantly fighting.

Thank you for your post.

You are getting closer to the root Matthew when you said.........
"Having to be patient with other people, having to keep your mouth shut living by the spirit when you wanna lash out, holding in things that people say about other people that you know is wrong yet you let it be."

Now do you want to be more "Specific"???

WHY are you having to keep your mouth shut and what is causing you to want to lash out???

Lashing out can happen for multiple reasons. Sometimes the person who lashes out feels a temporary release of stress and anger, but might later feel embarrassed or ashamed. Lashing out can be a response to past trauma, a self-protective response or a way to control and devalue others.

Sometimes people lash out so that they can reject before they get rejected.

At other times people lash out because they have said something that has been rejected by others and it causes them to feel threatened.

Some people who have been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or who are recovering from a trauma or a great loss will lash out because they go into fight or flight mode when they are feeling threatened.

Have YOU looked deep inside to try and figure WHY you feel the way you feel????

Hello Major,

Are we having a psychiatric therapy session right now? Yes in life have experienced many things, like hating and desiring to kill my own mother. Hatred toward other members of my family. Greed by stealing time away from others, along with money, and things that were not mine. Hatred towards God, and hatred toward Christians. A lot of my life revolved around hatred. Hate and drugs and a whole lot of pornography.

Now can we say the same for everyone else? No not exactly, but in time finding God since you ask about how my feelings are inside, now rest in assurance of God and his love for not just myself but others in this world, and How he is active in their life wether or not that I am present.

God is a good God of love, patience and mercy.

Sometimes it takes people longer than others to find the light, however it is a great thing to know God has been there all along and through every experience there is something to learn and treasure from that experience of learning that comes from God and his teaching us when we finally come to looking towards Christ Jesus, and the cross, and being a witness to the resurrection that brings in new life again by being reborn and make the choice to live by the spirit however the flesh and spirit are always at war.

That never stops until death.

Have you had any of the same experiences or problems in your own life that you have struggled with and that have been difficult to over come?

Many of us have and/or do suffer because of our experiences and choices while we were in the world. Thankfully we have been cleansed of the filthy sins that led to suffering in ourselves and others. We give these burdens to God and he lightens our load of pain, grief and guilt. Sometimes we take back some of these things for awhile furthering suffering in ourselves and others. God cleans the slate though the world never forgets. Sin does have consequence, but we have no need to add to those consequences.

There is power in the Spirit and God is mighty. We do continue to struggle in this flesh, but we have a great source of help and comfort in our times of trouble so that we have no need to despair. I personally believe that the pulls of the flesh are weakened as we follow God. Not that they go away ever in this life, but in my life God made great changes for which I will ever be grateful to God for.

We have a wonderful access to a mighty power able to do much more in our lives than I often believe we give God credit for.

God be with each of us in our times of trouble that we may be strengthened by the experiences and draw close to God. That we also may learn to love our neighbor more and trust in the awesome power and wonder of God.

It is YOUR thread Matthew. You posed the question. It has nothing to do with me or what I have experienced.

I am not the one who is struggeling with the things posted. Personally...when I post anything on this site, I honestly do not care if anyone cares what I say. Nothing said cases me to suffer or be stressed. I post comments that are based and rooted and validated in the Word of God so I am comfortable with anyone who wants to debate.

I will say this to you, there is a world of difference between what the Scriptures you posted about "those who suffered for the Lord's sake "
2000 years ago and what we suffer today.

When Christians 2000 years ago made their faith known.......their life was in jepordy. Christianity then was a life or death propisition.

Today when anyone says something about Christianity......it does not endanger their life. The only thing in question is someone disagreeing with what is said and does it anger and cause suffering or does it cause the person to sutdy to find the truth of the conversation.

Are we having a psychiatric therapy session right now?

Have you had any of the same experiences or problems in your own life that you have struggled with and that have been difficult to over come?

Hello MatthewG;

You authored this thread and others accepted your invite to post. Others have shared their personal journey with suffering along with their opinions, questions and how Christ is working through it all.

Along the way you will mention your own sufferings and will come back with another question to keep the topic going. Again, others will accept your invite and post so when a member questions you, please, retain as host and author of this thread and answer amicably to the others.

In how you responded, Are we having a psychiatric therapy session right now? just broke down the direction of Thoughts about Suffering

Personally, how you and others post or don't post, is up to you. Work it out. But from where I'm standing I care about what I'm reading and am looking for some direction, substance of comments, answers from questions and outcome of this topic.

The suffering isn't about a machine, its about people. The Bible makes clear that God is working all things for our good and we will suffer much in this life. We must remove the misguided blessings seen only as prosperity and suffering only as a curse.

Your submitting this thread is important; dialogue, input, questions of suffering are healthy in Christian fellowship, and that includes when one doesn't understand the other, thus we ask questions and follow with fervent prayer.

God bless you, MatthewG, and your family.
