To Forgive Thy Brother Seven Times Is Not Enough = Matthew 18;21-22

Matthew 18;21-22

Then came Peter to Him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Matthew 18;35

So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Luke 17;3-4

Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

Matthew 6;14-15

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Mark 11;25-26

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Luke 6;37

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Ephesians 4;32

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Too many people today are standing at the ready to be offended, instead we should be ready to forgive the offence. I ask God to help me forgive others as He has forgiven me, He has answered that prayer time and again. We need to stand at the ready to share His love with all and for no other reason than because He loved us first.

Hello Dave F.;

What you shared speaks to me. It takes work, work and more work to forgive but God is there to help. I'll explain my situation.

There are a handful of others in the last 10 years that did damage to me, my wife and church family. I confronted them. Still, they move on without a thought of what they did. It's never fair.

But the Lord put on my heart not to keep score, but to forgive. It was hard but I chose to forgive and God is faithful. He takes me through the process of healing and moving on. He is also watching the hearts of everyone's motives, the offender and the receiver.

God also reminds me of the ones I offended and cursed. Therefore, as He forgives me I need to forgive the other.

It's a lifetime discipline but the more we apply Jesus' teaching the more we get built up.

Nobody is exempt from this and God knows it.

God bless you, Dave F., and for the reminder of forgiveness.
