Today I Sat

After spending a day with my grandchildren I was reminded of this poem, as we all sat snuggling together waiting for parents to arrive
(Sorry if I have shared this before)

Today I Sat

Today I sat in grandpa’s seat
It was one of those special chairs
There was a remote control
And soon I was laid out nearly flat
It’s so comfy I could have taken a nap,
But the excitement of those buttons sent me and the cushions up and down!

Then grandpa came and sat down with me,
and I climbed up on his lap
Snuggled in and hit the button
laid back and relax,
Didn’t say anything but my thumb found my mouth,
soon, with my head on his chest,
His arm holding me tight
I fell asleep
Dreaming I was in Father’s house,

I saw a big chair
I clambered up, sat down,
it was fit for royalty…
It felt that it was made for me, just my size
As I sat down, wriggled about
It fitted like a glove,
Father came in and sat down
I clambered on His knee,
He put His arms around and welcomed me
I snuggled in,

“It not your time to posses your throne,
But when you do you’ll have a crown!
TIL then come, rest in my loving arms anytime you will
Then go play with the buttons on grandpa’s new chair,

And remember I’m here for snuggles
Whenever you feel the need
