Tragic Flooding in Texas

My heart is weeping for all those affected by the horrific flooding in Texas.
I do not understand how a river can rise 26 feet in 45 minutes.

I don't even have words for what is in my heart this morning.

Especially that Christian girls camp where confirmed so far 10 girls and 1 counselor died, including the camp founder and director himself.
May the Holy Spirit do His work with these parents and family members, as only HE can work any good out of this tragedy, and those who knew Jesus as Lord will right now know taht they have gone to a far better place

I just watched a Weather Channel video that mentioned the water level in some places reached 45 feet. Several huge houses were torn from their foundations and set adrift.

The report stated that flooding of the Guadeloupe River is not uncommon. That being the case I think it's time that the state and federal governments should invest in some flood control dams like the ones built along the Tennessee River.

And there was a person who was yelling and bemoaning that the news only cares because was all "white girls" and a "white only Christian camp", so if was Asian, blacks, or Spanish would have had no new reporting, as if only white lives matter?

Hello YeshuaFan;

The emotions are high for the victims, families and the internet readers. It's a time when things are said or posted that we must overlook. One victim in Texas was only asking for prayer to God first, which we prayed for yesterday during Worship service.

The offerings, food and help that we can send is God's provisions, secondary, yet important too.

There will be a lot of work ahead in Texas. Let's keep praying and be willing to serve in any capacity God leads.

The area is still under a flash flood threat due to powerful lingering thunderstorms in the area.

There are no flood control measures on the Guadalupe River. The people were advised of flash flood conditions before bedtime, but apparently they didn't pay enough attention. I don't know if any of them had or were using weather radios. Here in Tennessee, anytime we have warnings or watches, I keep my weather radio right beside where I sleep, so I can react quickly to a tornado or flash flood warning. It breaks my heart to think of what happened to those poor little girls at the Christian summer camp.

Following what you posted, let's continue to pray for the aftermath of the flood and the continued search and rescue operations in central Texas.

I agree there are no flood control measures in Central Texas, therefore, this is not a time for some of our leaders to blame for this horrific disaster. Instead, our leaders, ministries and communities should trickle encourage prayer, concern and compassion for the victim's families and state's leaders.

Protecting people there from such floods on the river will require considerable infrastructural investment centered on the construction of dams which can control the flow of water along the river, but that's a future consideration. Right now the focus should be upon the immediate relief of victims.
