I didn't know permanent outhouses hired a "specialists digger" but that makes sense. I always thought a wagon or "today's truck" would come out and empty the toilet basin.

No sir. In Alabama......you just pulled a wagon from out of the back of the outhouse, down the hill about 100 yards and dumped it.

So you'ns had an outhouse that flushed out into a wagon? My grandparents lived out in the flatness of Kansas, so the only "down hill" for them would be a sand pit or rock quarry, which were all way out east of their place. The only "grade" around there was what was going on in the schools...

"Flush" is not really the correct word......"LOL"!o_O

I am not sure how to word this so that it will not be deleted but instead of "flush" is not that word.

Well....the country boy way was to dig a hole about 3 feet deep. then over time as you dump your bucket that hole will eventually get full.
Put the pile of dirt back over the hole and watch the weeds grow and in about 3 months......you will never know what was there.
