Special Coastal Weather Information - 05 September 2007

We have been watching an area of disturbed weather; a low pressure area, off the Atlantic Coast of Florida. This area is starting to show some organization and as a result, Hurricane Hunter aircraft are scheduled for a fly-through this morning to monitor presures, wind and convection. There is a very high probability that this area will become a Tropical Storm within the next 12 to 48 hours and has the potential to strengthen to hurricane force thereafter.

If this area becomes a named storm, it will be called 'Gabrielle' and a new posting will be started. The weather influences will make this storm head for the coastal USA as it develops, so persons from southern Florida to Delaware should monitor this situation closely.
