Virtue: Selfless

Php 2:3b-4"In humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." Meaning not that you necessarily take an interest in whatever others are interested in, but that you look out for what is in the best interest of others. Rare to find selfless people, but Timothy serves as an example of whom Paul wrote, "I have no one else like him, who takes a genuine interest in your welfare. For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ." Php 2:20,21

Of course what may entail giving due consideration to others is making nothing of ourselves. For while those of the world may seek a celebrity status, trying to make something of themselves, we are to make nothing of ourselves. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross! Php 2:5-8 And this is the example of love and humilty to follow. For"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

So let us not live for ourselves. "He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." 2Cor 5:15

This is probably the biggest reason for people to not truly believe and trust in Jesus. They are not willing to lose their life to let Jesus save it.
