(I saw this on another Forum earlier today and thought it to be a great question, so shh!, I'll plagiarize it. lol)...

Such as Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, Tourette Syndrome, are these expected to have faith, repent, etc., or are there angels always beholding the Father's face?

Matthew 18:10-11 ESV
"See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.

I would see them as being born in Adam, still under the Fall and have received sin natures, but that God the father can choose to apply effectual saving grace towards them, as Jesus did on their behalf on that Cross what they themselves would be unable to do for themselves

Good morning, crossnote;

Is there more information to this post from the other forum? If so, do you mind sharing the link, or PM me so I can read it further?

When you share are these expected to have faith, repent, etc., my answer is yes. I don't know if they practice faith the same as I do because I'm not there to see this for myself, but I have to believe they can also enjoy faith with our Father.

Or,
or are there angels always beholding the Father's face? Do angels behold the Father's face, meaning, to those with special conditions and needs?

These people with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, Tourette Syndrome have their physical challenges in behavior and social interaction but there is also a side of innocence and purity in their disposition that I have witnessed.

I'm in agreement with Jesus' teaching in Matthew 18:10-11 for all peoples.

God bless you, crossnote.

Bob

Is there an age of "maturity" in our relation to God? I don't recall ever seeing one. However, Jesus does say to let all the children come to him, and not obstruct them. Is that relevant here? I think we must trust God to know what he's doing and leave it at that.

Through my own scriptural discernment and personal spiritual philosophies, I have this conclusion.
Those who cannot mentally understand enough to choose salvation, our Father in his great love and mercy, will save.
I personally agree with you, but there are many adults of otherwise sound mind who cannot mentally understand enough to choose salvation, and I don't know what to make of that.

Yes, it's one of God's mysteries that transcends human logic. God gave us reason; Aristotle gave us logic. Sometimes the two don't appear to accord with each other. In such cases, God, not Aristotle, wins out.
When its a choice between Athens (reason/logic) or Jerusalem (revealation), I'll choose Jerusalem every time. :)

I have Aspergers myself. Found out at 22-years old in 1997. Take medication and seek counseling.

Good morning, JPPT1974;

I feel we all have our personal health conditions yet God reveals His unconditional love, watch and faithfulness over everyone.

I am thankful God has covered you all these years and will add additional praise and prayers for His sustained health upon you.

God bless you and your entire family.

I don't believe age has anything to do with our maturity, it is about our mental acuity and whether or not one is able to understand that they are a sinner and therefore need salvation. This topic came up here on CFS, I think it was Musicmaster that opened that thread. There is no AGE of accountability but God being far more merciful than us certainly has a plan for those who are not mentally capable of choosing or rejecting Him.

Good morning, Dave;

I couldn't agree with you more. You are correct regarding the age factor in regard to this discussion. There are young people who minister to elderly and elderly to young people.

No doubt everyone has a heart and it's God who sees those and guides them.

God bless you, brother.

What would you say about this passage?

1 Corinthians 1:27-31 ESV
But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; [28] God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, [29] so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. [30] And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, [31] so that, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord."

Do not think that the bible teaches an exact age, but some have taken from the passage that all over the age of 20 died in wilderness as a time limit
Numbers 14:29 states that those who grumbled against God, 20 years or older, will die in the wilderness because of their grumbling.

I'd rather see this thread focus on those with mental handicaps rather than age related handicaps.
