When will (or did) the ‘Later Days’ start?

Many things are to happen in the later days. Many say we are in the latter days, while some say it a period to dome.

So, what is the starting point of the period that may be called ‘the later days’?

This is more of a question for meditation and reflection and discussion than one with a single answer. There are many events that can be said to mark the beginning of the later days. Clearly Paul taught that his writings were penned in the later days, but the term may mean different things in different contexts.

Some possible answers are:

  • The later days started at the crucifixion because that is when the payment for man’s sin was paid and our salvation was purchased.
  • The later days started at the resurrection since His resurrection is our proof of our own.
  • The later days started at Ascension when the risen Christ departed Earth and departed into Heaven.
  • The later days started at Pentacost when the Holy Spirit came to be indwelling in believers.
  • The later days began with the establishment of the canon of scripture (and thus God’s Word).
  • The Later days started when Israel was re-established as a nation.
  • The Later days will start when Judaism resumes sacrifices at the temple.
  • The Later days will start at the beginning of the Tribulation.
So, how and when would you apply the term later days? What marks the beginning of this period.
