Climb the hills of Golgotha, sit and meditate on the summit
to know Gods greatest sacrifice…
You don’t have to
Give the widow’s mite anonymously to feel you’ve done your part,
Feed five thousand
With fish and bread
Climb up a sycamore tree,
Sell all your possessions
Give up your job,
Not work on Sundays
Do penance,
pilgrimage up a mountain on your knees…
You don’t need to be a fisherman
Rather a fisher of men,
You don’t have to spend forty days and nights fasting
To know wrong from right,
Go do likewise…
You don’t have to do good to earn bonus points toward your heavenly crown..,
You don’t have to worry if that mountain hasn’t fallen into the sea
And aunt Edna’s ‘condition’ still as bad as it could be,
You feel your prayers have not reached heaven and God’s ears,
When you start to think why bother praying
‘ Cos nothings happened, every thing remains the same…
Have I lost my mustard seed did it slip through my finger tip, out of my hands
My head’s in confusion, my mind begins to buzz,
with doubting questions, no answers, no reason why,
This is when I hold fast to the reassurance that
“He built His temple in my heart
and He ain’t going away!”
