How to fulfill Dueteronomy 6?

How do you fulfill Deuteronomy 6:
"6These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."
How do you talk to your children about the commands of the Lord. Can you give examples of when you:

-talk about them when you sit
-when you walk along the road
-when you lie down
-when you get up
-how do you keep these commands before your children

I always try to help my kids understand that following Jesus is the only true compass and walking with Him is the only way to have a rich and full life- I also try to be very honest about my shortcomings, failures and my personal need for total dependance on the Lord- it is importatn to be real with your kids- other than that I try to make sure the majority of activities they are involved in are Christ centered.
One thing I always share with friends and brethren:
The scripture declares that if you train up a ahild in the way he should go when he gets old he shall not depart from it BUT the scripture doesn't say much about what will happen in the middle- LOL!

Thankyou

Not that this is an answer to your question but... It is a really convicting verse for me! I don't do enough to teach God to my children. Thankyou.

Actually... come to think of it...

I just remembered this site -

Maybe we both need to take a good look at it!!! :D

Thanks for a Godly reminder!

I love what you just said here! Ever since Ken and I became parents we've been praying that God will give us wisdom to truly train our daughters in the way that they should go! But sometimes I wonder, what is that exactly! I know it is the way of the Lord and that's the main thing, but I am actually training myself even now to try to be prepared for everything! I think one of the reasons why it becomes such a tragedy when kids of good Christian families stray is because the parents are shocked that THEIR child could do such a thing!! Oh my... We all have decisions to make and no matter how well a child is loved and trained in the ways of the Lord the fork in the road will come at one point and they will have to make the decision to take the right path! We can't take the path for them just like no one else can take the path for us! Why be shocked? Temptation is everywhere and is strong and sometimes the best of us fall! So I think we should trust God more and ourselves less and pay special attention to the end of that scripture that says that they will NOT depart from it; they might take a detour, but in the end they WILL come back! This is my oppinioon anyway! You guys who have older kids... What do you think?

Don't live by the law, live by the Spirit. Christ is the end of the law for believers. He came to fulfill the whole law. We are therefor no longer under the law but under Christ.

Whatever we do should be done out of love, not requirement. We love him because he first loved us. In the Spirit, we want to do what he desires, this is faith.

Faith expressing itself through love is all that matters. Be a believer and live in faith. If you live by the law, you will perish. Nobody can keep the law, it is only for showing us our sinfulness.

When Christ fulfilled his sacrifice and rose again, he set us all free from the law. The law brought death but Christ brought freedom. It is referred to as the new covenant in Christ.

If anyone demands to follow the law, they will be required by God to follow it perfectly. If they fail at the slightest point, they will enter Hell without mercy.

(Galatians 2:16-21, 3:1-26 NIV)
...know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified. "If, while we seek to be justified in Christ, it becomes evident that we ourselves are sinners, does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! If I rebuild what I destroyed, I prove that I am a lawbreaker. For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!

You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing? Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard? Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith." The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these things will live by them." Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
The Law and the Promise

Brothers, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ. What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise. What, then, was the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was put into effect through angels by a mediator. A mediator, however, does not represent just one party; but God is one.
Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.
Sons of God

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
