What does it mean 'locusts and wild honey'?

Matthew
3:4 And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern
girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

"He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30

"I say to you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he." Luke 7:28

"But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." Mark 10:43-46

Matthew

girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

Eww... lucusts were something like large grasshoppers .. Well I don't know about them but the honey sounds good..

Just reminds me when I was in Israel and were were at a place near the valley where the Israelites reached the promised land and we were talking to a Jewish Rabbi who told us that where it says Israel is the Land of milk and honey it is not the honey from the bees but the honey from dates .... date honey.... and I bought some . Is it ever taisty.

His food was just that, Locusts and Honey.

Locusts are the only insect that was declared clean to be eaten by the Law.

Leviticus 11
20 ‘All flying insects that creep on all fours shall be an abomination to you. 21 Yet these you may eat of every flying insect that creeps on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap on the earth. 22 These you may eat: the locust after its kind, the destroying locust after its kind, the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind. 23 But all other flying insects which have four feet shall be an abomination to you.

So the simple answer could be that the verse is simply stating a simple fact. John the Baptist ate locusts and honey. :)
