Deuteronomy 29:2-5

2 Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them:
Your eyes have seen all that the LORD did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to all his land.

3 With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those miraculous signs and great wonders.

4 But to this day the LORD has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear.

5 During the forty years that I led you through the desert, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.

What does that tell you about the God we serve?

The children of Israel were 40 years wandering in the desert and just think .....their clothes never wore out and their sandals never wore off their feet . What a miracle !!!!

OUr God shall supply all our need according to His riches in glory . This also tells us that our God will sustain us through our wilderness ..... whether it be financial , spiritual , emotional or physical .

Then one day as we hang on to God and are at the very edge of our wilderness , a breakthrough and miracle will come .... not in our timing but God's time

God is willing and able to see us through whatever wilderness we are going through .

Thank you so much for posting this Dusty. It surely came at a time when I needed to see it.

He is such a miraculous God!!! All we have to do is trust in Him and He'll take care of it all in His time.

Blessings to you my Sister, Cheri

Can you imagine being Joshua and standing under the tutelage of Moses for those same 40 years? Yet this is much of what qualified him to lead.

I changed the title of this thread because as I was reading this am in Matthew about Jesus wilderness experience; His was 40 days and 40 nights while the Israelites in contrast were 40 yrs. .

Jesus experienced a more intense sense of hunger that what the whining Israelites experienced. Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by satan . and after 40 days and 40 nights , Jesus was hungry but never said a word ... never complained , never grumbled.
1Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. 2After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

Jesus quoted from the same passage in Deuteronomy that that gave the same reason for Israel's hunger and thirst.

Like Israel we can eat and be satified but we cannot think that coming to church on Sun. will do us for the rest of the week .

Just as we must eat regularly to sustain our outer man , so we must eat to keep the inner man healthy

As I reflect this day ..... I am thinking that I should begin every day by feeding on the heavenly manna through the reading of the Word and by prayer.

Just think how sad it is to walk in circles for 40 years in shoes and clothes that do not wear out (provision) and yet remain just outside the blessings of God's real promise for your life.

Exo 34:27-28

Actually, Moses also fasted 40 days and 40 nights:

And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water

That's all I wanted to say! Hehe :)

That's right . and Moses was a type of Christ . Thanks

Very good. Actually, even during the time of Moses, God said Christ would be like Moses:

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him
Deut 18:18

And that prophecy did come true:

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
John 12:49
