The Person of the Holy Spirit

The entire Trinity ,not just the Father had a role in creation . The Son is the powerful Word : the Holy Spirit ( ruah ) , " Breath" , took an active role in the work of creation.

I started to say more but didn't have the verses handy.

1 It was the Father's plan
2 Everything was created by Jesus

John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Ephesians 3:9
And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Colossians 1:13
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature 16For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him

3 It was done by the creative power of the spirit

John 1

The Word Became Flesh

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

" And God said " : The divine Person speaking here is Logos or Word of God , Jesus , which was in the beginning with God , and was God .

There is more to what He has done, but this is just the basics of a teaching concerning the Holy Spirit. I brought this here so that His basic attributes could be thought about, meditated on and considered. I agree that the three are one, the Trinity. Jesus tells us if we know Him, we know that Father. Since the Holy Spirit does not speak of Himself, but what the Father speaks, then we can also say that if we know His Spirit, we also know Him.

What needs to be done in the lives of a believer is to be able to recognize when the Holy Spirit is speaking to us, moving us, and working in our lives. When a believer is not close enough to Him to recognize His voice, they loose out on doing His will in their lives. We must be able to recognize who is speaking to us. Like the Berean, we need to take what the leading is bringing and search scripture to see if it is of God or not. If it is not, then the guidance could of been from the flesh or another spirit.

Exactly , and this is why this area is here to help others to become more aware . But as you said we cannot ever think that by reading others notes and messages that, that is enough . We need to dig into the Word for ourselves and as we do that the Holy Spirit becomes an intrical part of our lives , leading , guiding , teaching directing in all aspects of our daily living and like you said we need to stop and listen to the Holy Spirit , cause all of us as born again believers have the Holy Spirit but He will become grieved if we do not exercise the other areas of our life like praying and praising and reading His Holy Word .

And when we become close to the Lord , the Holy Spirit does reveal to us what is relevant to us and what we need from Him daily as we focus upon Him . That is why we can say that He is personal and to each one He gives indiviual attention . That to me is thrilling . What a wonderful God we serve . Praise and glory to Him who is worthy to be praised .

Yes, we do serve a loving, personal God. Having a relationship with Him is what it is all about!

What your words brought to my mind is that as followers of CHrist, when we lay down our lives, we need to take inventory to how much of our lives are we laying down. Is it 10%, 50%, 80%, 100%? What we lay down in Him is all that He can work with. This is a very important process we continue to go through is all our ways in Him. So many times I hear that GOd is not moving a persons life in one area or another, but when you dig a little deeper, they had not yet let go of that specific part of their life so God can work in it. This reminds me of an old story, which you may of heard before.

A child who had been playing with his favorite toy truck. One day, the tire fell off. Crying because his favorite toy was broken, he picked it up and went to his father to fix it. His father reached down and wiped the tears away and asked his son what was wrong. His son told him that he had broken his favorite toy and ask his father if he would fix it. His father said he would. After waiting awhile, the son started crying once again. The father asked him what was wrong and his son asked him why he had not started to fix the toy. The father, after wiping the sons tears away once more, said to him, "Son, if you want me to fix your broken toy, you first must let go of it and give it to me."

Yes " OneLight " that is a perfect example of the Father's love towards us . I love that story as you pointed out . If we are not sold out entirely for our Saviour and Master , how can we expect to serve Him .

That is where the Holy Spirit comes in our life and sharpens us like a two edged sword so to speak or the refining fire of the Holy Spirit that you spoke of . If we do not lay all on the alter and confess to a Holy God who hears and forgives , how can we live with ourselves ?

Better still as we let go of the past and release everything to God we can be assured of better communion with the Holy Spirit as He purges and throws out all the garbage that acumulates in our life .

Acts 10:45 ...... The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.

That's us .... The Holy Spirit's outpouring is for all who accept and believe.

Hi

I was focusing mostly on the Person and the Spirit. There is so much that He has done and can do there is no way for it to be all on one thread. That's why we have this certain forum now.

Did you write this?

When a believer is not close enough to Him to recognize His voice, they loose out on doing His will in their lives. We must be able to recognize who is speaking to us.

Right. And the more time we spend with a person the more we begin to recognize their voice, so it is the same with Holy Spirit. Time alone with Him.

Yes, we do serve a loving, personal God. Having a relationship with Him is what it is all about!

Amen!

If we love the Lord with all our heart, mind and strength as the Bible says to it will be 100%
.

Yes, I put the study together for my son a few years ago. It is on my blog on another Christian site.

The problem is that people think that they will automatically be able to give 100% to Christ all the time, when in reality, one day may be 100%, the next 40% and the next 89%. We are not perfect, and with all humility, we have to accept that He is not finished working in us. The scripture you used is definitely the goal we try to attain, this I agree with. But, when we find ourselves short, we need to remind ourselves that we are not perfect, but clay on the potters wheel, being created into a vessel fit for the King.

Of couse we are not perfect but that's why its so important first thing each morning to come into His presence, giving ourselves to Him, so we will have His power to do what pleases Him that day.

First let me say , you are to be commended for the study that you first put up and I was questioning whether you had copied and pasted and please forgive me for that thought .

That is so true that we are clay in the Potter's hands , and God is definately not finished with me .... but on the other hand I still try with the help of the Holy Spirit to excel in excellence in all I do and like GodSpeaks says , if we go before the Throne of Grace first thing in the morning , getting as fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit , our day may not be like we had planned but it will be God planned , Holy Spirit led and to tell you the truth I don't think I can put a percentage on my efforts because they are all in His hands.

First thing in the morning, all throughout the day and the last thing at night! I agree. We are to be in constant communication with Him. That is why I like my signature so much, it reminds me where I should be, trusting Him in all things and not my thoughts or understanding.

Alot more would be too if they realized He was always trying to talk to us but we are too busy to listen or not tuned in.

That is why I like my signature so much, it reminds me where I should be, trusting Him in all things and not my thoughts or understanding.

That's what gets us in trouble many times.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Philippians 2:1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

On all these different threads in this section about the Holy Spirit, we have had some great fellowship!

Ephesians 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling

1 Peter 1:22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

The Bible is the Word of God, but that is LOGOS, written Word. Its very important. But the spoken Word from the Holy Spirit to our Spirit is RHEMA, which is a quickened Word. Its alive and comes as revelation.

If we indeed really get into trouble, it is because we are not listening to Him like we should. It is easy to hear from Him, but easier to get distracted and lean on our understanding.

Just a note: Scripture is translated from the word Graphe in Greek.

Today we use "Word" to mean the Scriptures, or Jesus, or an uterance from the Lord.

So we might say I studied the Word this morning, but in 2 Tim 3:16 it reads; All Scripture [Graphe] is profitable for teaching,...

Where as the Gospel of John starts off; In the beginning was the Word [Logos]...

And Romans 10:17; So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word [Rhema] of Christ

My understanding is that Logos was used to mean someone's word in general. Like saying, "I give you my word, or I have a word for you." I don't speak Greek, so that just comes from studying the Scripture and cross referancing with my Strong's Concordance and my Greek interlinear Bible. Maybe someone else has more to say on it, but it did seem that when they wanted to refer to the Scritpures in general they used the Greek word Graphe. I could not find an example of Graphe being translated as Word in the Bible.

This was my point
And Romans 10:17; So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word [Rhema] of Christ

RHEMA - We know this is when the Holy Spirit is speaking directly to us about a situation. And its not just what we read in the Bible.

Absolutely. The point was well made as usually. Understanding that we can hear from the Lord all through the day, and that He will help us at anytime we turn to Him is having understanding.

Prov 9: 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
