Why did satan kill Jesus?

Here's a thought presented in my bible study group tonight. Why did satan kill Jesus? Satan tempted Adam and Eve so he could "take control" of this world in a way. Do you think that he originally tempted Adam and Eve to sin so that Jesus would come to this Earth? Because if satan knew that if Jesus was coming then he could tempt man to kill Jesus. Do you think that satan thought he would be able to take over the heavens by doing so?

Of course satan only thinks for his self and can't see the big picture; therefore he lost the battle of killing the Son big time, but I was curious to what your guys' take is on this.

Satan did everything he could to kill him or get someone to kill him, but he didn't kill him. But Jesus said no one takes His life, that He freely laid down His life for us so we can be saved. But if he would have known about the plan of salvation he would have never even attempted it. Because now he has all of us who war against him to contend with, not just one person, Jesus.

He thought he could take over. He even got 1/3 or the angels to follow him. He said he would be like the Most High and he always tried to imitate everything God does, but its only a counterfeit

Exactly right..satan did NOT kill Jesus, Jesus came to save humanity and bridge the gap between man and God. Jesus had a specific purpose for coming and knew before He even came that He would die for us..yet He came anyways and took on human form and died of His own free will.....Jesus asked His father if there was a way that the cup He was to bare be taken from Him..but He said the fathers will be done not His own.

Jesus knew what his death would bring for mankind, to all who beleive in Him and follow Him. We need to not forget that Jesus though human is also God!

blessings,
Mary

The Father killed Jesus. It was this very particular thing that Satan did NOT want to happen. He'd rather give Jesus the whole world because he knew what the cross meant.

I don't know if I agree with this. I think satan is so dumb and so encompassed in his dumb selfish thoughts that he wanted Jesus to die. I think he thought he could take over heaven which the death of Jesus. But that's just my 2 cents.

Very good questions. But no Satan did not kill Jesus . Everything was in God's plan right from the beginning of time and God knew already that Adam and Eve would sin .

God also knew that Jesus had to suffer on the cross for our sins as He provided a Spotless Lamb who had no sin to die for us . Jesus also knew what God's will was for His life and He sacrificially did it all for us .

When Jesus was on the cross and said it is finsihed , He meant that He had completed the work that His Father had given Him .

Satan did not kill Jesus, nor did he have the power to do it. Jesus died voluntarily for our sins and only God had the power to kill him.

Satan did NOT kill Jesus. HUMANS DID. But even though they killed the BODY of Jesus, they didn't kill HIM. Does that make sense?
And if Satan did kill Jesus, then Satan would be more powerful than Jesus. And that is not the case. Satan DID try with all his power to get rid of Jesus, but no one can take Jesus away.
He's here to stay.

I agree with you, (except for the 2 cents), satan knew Jesus would bruise his head. But satan has nothing to do with truth, for he is a liar, and the father thereof.

Its true God told satan Jesus would bruise his head. But don't you think he didn't really believe Him, since he tries so hard to out-do God, he could think he is getting away with it.

From Satan's perspective, maybe he didn't know, but God purposed all of this. Mind you- when you say "killed" I think about the cup of God's wrath. That is what is significant. Sure Satan could cause men to physically kill Jesus, but Satan had no contol over what God would then do.

God's law requires a sacrifice for the atonement of sins. God sent Jesus to be the perfect sacrifice through which we could recieve forgiveness.
Jesus' death was a saving act for mankind, one which we should never take for granted.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.

Satan could do nothing stop the sacrificial work of Jesus on the cross. He tried to tempt Jesus, but failed in his attempt. Satan also tried to kill Jesus when He was a boy, but he failed.

Slightly off the point, the movie "The Passion" seems to encourage or indicate that satan had a role in the crucifixion of Jesus. Nowhere in the Bible does it state that satan had anything to do with it. He only entered Judas to betray Jesus, which God allowed because Jesus already knew before hand and it had to happen to allow for the crucifixion.

Another point, lets not be too quick to cast off satan as some dumb idiotic being. He used to be an angel, a very high ranking angel, which means he is highly intelligent but filled with arrogance and pride. He may be our enemy, but he is not stupid. If he where stupid, how does he decieve people so easily? Compared to God, he is insignificant but compared to man he is intelligent and powerful, that is why we need to rely on the Holy Spirit to overcome satans plans against us.

Amen, Amen!

John 10:17-18
This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father."

:jesus-cross: Starplayer24 here is some more information for you about the death of Jesus in tthe book of Acts chapter 5 you can read from verse 30 on and it states .......The God of our FATHERS raised UP JESUS

:smiley30: ( you can note that peter links Jesus with the patriarchs and prophets of old ,and as well with God

reading on it states whom you slew and hanged on a tree

this is where Peter was actually placing the responsibility of the murder :smiley70: of Jesus on the Sanhedrin

reading on you note it states HIM HAS GOD EXALTED :smiley90: with his right hand

this tells us that it was the power of God to raise Jesus from the dead and seat him at his right hand in the heavenlies we can read more on that in the book of Romans

To be a prince and a savior ,
this tells us that Jesus Christ is the leader of Israel the church and and he is our deliverer and savior and there is none other :smiley40:

for to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins
this tells us that Jesus is the LORD and the medium of forgiveness and life Jesus is our tree of life :smiley90:

"For god loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten son in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life". Never blame god for his decisions! He loves us. That's like giving up your only child (if you can even do it)

If the devil had revelation knowledge concerning the "plan" of God from the beginning of creation he would have never crucified the Lord of Glory!!! There is no Wisdom against God.

1Cor 2:7.. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.
1Cor 2:8.. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (ESV)
