" Secret Place"

Praise the Lord , Godspeaks !!! Our steps are orchestrated by the Holy Spirit .
This morning at our Women’s Meeting the speaker was talking abut that very thing that you said in the latter part of your post “ Secret Place” .

This message was for me for sure and you also confirmed it in your post. . We as children of God need to get to a higher level and place with our God and not just every day walk but find our selves a “ Secret place where we can be comfortable just sitting at His feet and listening to what He has to say to us .

The closer we get to Him the clearer it becomes that a “ Secret Place with God is a place of intimacy that only you and I can share alone by ourselves with our God . . A personal place where we can go into a deeper walk with Him . I need to be in that place and that is confirmation in my spirit to get into that place with Him God wants me to understand His ways and His perspective on issues in my life and run to Him instead of to friends or even counseling . I need God’s advice not my own and as I rest in His” Seret Place Sec“ He will give me help from His Word and His voice as I wait on Him .

Did you know that ‘”Secret “ in Hebrew or " sode" means intimacy , a sitting . a familiar aquantance . God says sit with me . Get comfortable with Me and My Word .

Job said in 19:19 … All my intimate friends detest me; those I love have turned against me. When we have close friends they fail us , they get annoyed with us ,they get angry with us sometimes but if they are real friends , we forgive them and that’s the kind of relationship our Heavenly Father wants to have with us

Psalm 55:14 … We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company

God wants to have a sweet communion with us

1…. The ‘ Secret Place” … Sit with Me …. Do not leave without hearing My voice …. Sit with Me , give me your list that needs to be prayed for and listen for My voice and don’t leave the presence of God until you hear His answer.

2…. The” Secret Place “ ….. Place of council … Go to Jesus and rest at His feet and say what you have to say , leaving it there with Him , not picking it up again.

3….The “ Secret Place…. “Place of hiding …. Our “Secret Place “ with Him is our place of comfort . Proverbs 3:32 … For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

Amos 3:7….Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Psalm 91 is a very comforting chapter that we all know ;verse 1…. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Think about our shadow . Where is our shadow ? Of course , it is right in front of us and it is at our feet so God asks us to dwell in His shadow which means to sit at His feet.

There it is again dwelling or residing or remaining for a time . Yes we love the Lord but it is not enough . We need to dwell with Him in order to have a relationship with Him

4…. The “ Secret Place “ is …. A place of revelation …. Deut. 29: 29 …..The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Get alone with God Invite His presence . Take a paper and pencil to jot things down that He tells you .

He wants to impart vision and develop us in that ” Secret Place .

This is for all of us as we grow in Him and desire a deeper walk .

I need to have more "secret" time with God... I have actually been feeling this interesting urge to go somewhere quiet, kneel, praise, and talk to my Father. I wonder if that is my spirit crying out to Him maybe? Usually when this happens, something comes up and I forget... unfortunately.

I think you know, I have a "secret place" and I go there often.

Yes Don , I do know that . That is so beautiful .

God was showing me this morning about another story we all know so well in the Bible about Mary and Martha the two sisters who were so different in their ways of serving Jesus .

The sisters Mary and Martha serve as an interesting object lesson for us. Martha was too concerned with day-to-day matters to find time to simply sit down and absorb Jesus' teachings. Jesus gently chides her for letting her worries blind her to her spiritual need.

Now myself , I want to be a Mary and sit at Jesus feet , just taking in what He has to say . That is so important in my growth as a Christian .

Luke 10:38-39....... Mary and Martha were sisters who opened their home to Jesus. When he went to visit them, Mary sat at his feet and listened to all he had to say.

Hi Flight ....

That is the Holy Spirit tugging at your heart Strings and like I have been impressed by two confirmations ... I also need to spend more time at His feet. Don't ignore the Holy Spirit . OUr enemy will throw all kinds of distractions in our way but in Jesus Name we can rebuke them .

Don't ignore the prompting of the Holy Spirit . God will honour you for being obedient and blessings will come your way because of it . Sometimes when we don't have anything to say , just sitting listening to some very inspiring Christian music and meditating on the goodness of Lord , I find benificial . I have scripture in song that I can listen too as well and it is good when you are driving .

This might come across as kind of an odd question, but does anyone here enjoy studying God's Word more than they do praying?

No question is odd . You are right sometimes it is easier to study His Word but ya know satan wants to throw all kinds of distractions at us so we won't pray and that happens to me a lot. He knows the power of prayer . It does not have to be long or flowery . We do not want to sound like the pharasee . He wants us to express what is in the deepest part of our heart . I find mine more like a converstaion now than a prayer.

but does anyone here enjoy studying God's Word more than they do praying?

I do. And it's no mystery if we feel that way.

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope
Rom 15:4

Scriptures gives us comfort. Prayer gives us also comfort but not the way scripture does.

So true John

Scriptures gives us comfort. Prayer gives us also comfort but not the way scripture does.

Prayer touches the heart of God and He is our best freind so we can talk to Him about anything and does not necessarily have to be on our knees . I can pray in my car ( not closing my eyes ) but just talking to God and I believe that is a form of prayer as well . I think that is what is meant by pray with out ceasing .
Thinking about it we always seem to think that prayer is a certain special time , which in a sense it is a special time or " Secret Place " where we get away totally from all obstructions , disturbances , distractions , and close ourselves in with God so we can hear Him speak but also in continuation and thankfulness in every situation , we are still praying .

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 .........Be joyful always; 17pray continually; 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus

I had no idea you were talking to me here LOL. I just now started reading this, only this first post so far. I wanted to only hear what the Lord was saying at this time and didn't want to read other things on the subject. Now I am mostly finished on that particular point, although He has some things for me to share on the secret place at another times. There are so many directions that we can go on a particular subject.

No I didn't know that! Thats what I happened to be talking about tonight

Do we always have to be talking to a person we love? No. We can just enjoyed being in their presence, being close to them. At times that can be a deep communion.

Dusty thanks for this thread, Ive been blessed by not only reading it but by the responses also and say Amen to them. That secret place is a place of privilege , a precious place where I too go every day , I need to. I want to get so close to The Lord that I can hear His heartbeat so close that I never want to leave that place!! I also love the fact that its a place we take no-one with us ...we go alone..I like that.
What a joy and peace we always find in His presence a joy and peace we can find in no other place..what a blessing it is to be a child of God.

You are so welcome my dear. I too am finding a very special place and it seems to be just my sofa in the living room and in the quietness of the day with the sun shining in , I sometimes just remain and linger in His presence after having read His Word . It is so up lifting and refreshing .

That is so true we go alone into His presence but isn't it so sweet . and yes what a priviledge it is to be a child of God . Sometimes He whispers things that only we can understand and I also write down the Holy Spirit 's thoughts ... Wow I am blessed . He Loves me so much and I want to return His love for me . God is so good .

That's right GodSpeaks . We can do the talking but we should also be listening , cause it is in those listening times that we hear Him speak.

When its hard to express myself in prayer many times I will pray the psalms. It doesn't matter that someone else wrote it, if thats what I am feeling in my heart too He will accept that from me.

Amen GodSpeaks . each one of us in our individual way can express ourselves . to God . That is why God made us all different but united in the Body of Christ .

I would love to hear more members thoughts on this . Poster you brought up a very valid question.

I think you know, I have a "secret place" and I go there often.

I have seen pictures of your very special " Secret Place, Don " and it is so cool . Maybe you can share it again with all the newbies here . But I am guessing it would be kind of cold to vixsit right now .

That is great , I think to pray any scripture is acceptable and a sweet offering to God .

Matthew 6:6 says ..... But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

I think God honours our prayer life and if we have a special or secret place that is even more pleasing to the Lord . The main thing is that we are not doing it out of duty but out of love for Jesus . I believe He knows who is praying sincerely and who is not.

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
