Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

I am always in fear of this one, because its unforgivable.
I will be honest, it quite often scares me so so much.
So I want to learn more about it, hope some people here have some ideas on it.
Thanks.

Matthew 12:31
And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

I have read all them, now I need other peoples views to confirm if thats it.
LOL I beleive it is and feel much better again after reading that, but I wanna hear others views on it from here too.

It is just time for me to seek conformation that this is how it is and I am not committing it, I need to hear it from others that I somewhat know, I need that right now.

God bless you :)

Oh okay. That's understandable.

Yes, its time to put a end to this fear once and for all. lol
(Its got so bad that even saying things like this, I fear I have done it, just got out of hand for me)

Unpardonable Sin

I have been asked this question many times, the last time from "Ricky", a 15 year old boy who was deeply concerned about his "lost salvation" because of this.

Here was my response to him

===========================

Ricky :

God, as the Trinity, has three aspects...

  • God the Father is our creator and sits on the throne in heaven;
  • God the Son has redeemed us and sits at the right hand of the father, awaiting the day of judgment;
  • And God the Holy Spirit was sent to us by the Father on the Day of Pentecost (see John 14:16-17 and then Acts Ch 2).

God sent the Holy Spirit to help us, to minister to us, to provide us with grace, to convict us, to illuminate us, etc, etc.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is when you have evidence of the existence of God, as revealed by the Holy Spirit, and you have proof of God, and yet you still refuse to believe and harden your heart.

And not only do you refuse to believe, but you then deny God Himself, and try to convince others that God is not real.

Now, some will say that "blasphemy of the Holy Spirit" is when you simply curse God (as in a time of frustration or temptation). But that is not what it means. Many people who were unbelievers cursed God, but then came to salvation.

Blasphemy against the Spirit has nothing to do with cursing; it has to do with mocking the works of the Holy Spirit, with the intent on keeping others from knowing or following Christ.

Jesus alerted the Pharisees to the possibility of them committing this unpardonable sin when they accused Him of driving out demons because His power came from Beelzebub, the prince of demons. (see Matthew 12:22-32 and Mark 3:22-30).

He told them that their criticism wasn't against Him, but because of the miracles the had witnessed, their criticism was actually against the Holy Spirit.

He indicates that their judgment, though it seemed targeted against Himself, was really aimed at the Holy Spirit. "I drive out demons by the Spirit of God," Jesus proclaimed. To criticize a miracle from Jesus was equivalent to criticizing a miracle of the Holy Spirit. His power came from the Spirit.

Ricky, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit isn't about any kind of sin you may have committed. And it isn't even about someone who rejects Christ or experiences a time of unbelief. The unpardonable blasphemy is not action against Christ, but words against the Holy Spirit.

Consider what Jesus said.. "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven". The unforgivable sin is not related to Christ but to the Spirit.

Also consider the Apostle Paul - now this is God's chosen person. And Paul says of himself in 1st Timothy 1:12-12 .. "I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in my unbelief"

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is when you knowingly, intentionally, consistently, continually, reject God; when you say that God is not real despite the unmistakable evidence that is before you.

Ricky, you have not committed this sin. I know that you have not. The proof is in the fact that you are concerned and worried about it. If you had committed this sin, you wouldn't care. It would be of no importance to you.

Be at peace, my friend.

Blessings
Dennis

This is what has got me through it the most I think, if I was against God, why would I care?? I simply wouldnt because I was against Him.
But I am not and I do care, so so much that I worry about it with a fear that runs deeper than any fear I have EVER felt in this world.

God has worked so STRONG in my life the last few weeks, if I had committed this, He wouldn't be working in me.
He wouldnt answer my prayers so quickly and He defiantly wouldn't of comforted me just now.
But God is there for everyone, always so I guess you are right, its harding of the heart SO much that you could not return at all ever, even though you had seen the Kingdom.
A month ago God reveled his Kingdom to me openly.
It is not possible for me to reject it lol - absolutely impossible, he has gave me not just faith but knowledge that He is there.
My faith gos beyond faith to just knowing now.
Where as NEVER before was this the case.
I could not ever under any circumstances throw it away.

Ok, I am gonna lay this to rest on the conclusion that no real christian could do this, if you had seen his kingdom openly you couldnt reject God in any way shape or form and you most certainly wouldn't speak out against the Holy Spirit knowing that it was the Holy Spirit.
So I am not going to question this again, and I am not going to question it because it means questioning my salvation.
I am just going to fight the thoughts in my head by compeltly ignoring them until they go away.
God knows my heart, He knows who is against Him and who isnt.
My heart would never think such a thing which is why I have never said such a thing.

My heart is purly for God, so much that I worry about sinful thinking as well as sinful action, I want to correct it all for God.

And all the things like this is a sign that the Holy Spirit is with me.

Praise God.

Hey! Look, if you're worried about it, don't be. I know I was when I first realized it.

Anyways, the Pharisees were teling Jesus he had the spirit of Satan in him, and that's why Jesus was able to do the miracles. They were saying that the power that Jesus had, it came from Satan himself. And we know that Jesus' power comes from the Holy Spirit. ("But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said, “No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.” Matthew 12:24).

Jesus then went on to respond that Satan can't cast Satan out. A house divided itself cannot stand.

This is what the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is - when you believe that Jesus' powers come from Satan himself. And we all know that's not true.
I pray that you will no longer be worried. If you're worried that you commited this sin, chances are you haven't. And are just worrying! DO NOT WORRY ANY MORE :)

And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

If you want to repent about something, it is not blasphemy of the Holy Spirit or you would not even be convicted to want to repent. You don't need to be afraid of committing this if you don't speak against the way the Holy Spirit wants to do things. If you don't know for sure if something is the Spirit of God or not, just don't say anything. You'll be safe :)

Yes ignore those thoughts because its just fear from the enemy, cast them down.

But there is another verse that implied it IS a true Christian that commits this, one who has been a partaker of the things of God but purposefully turns from God and does not want the Holy Spirit or anything about Him.
But like I said in my post before this, you don't have to worry about it. You are not going to commit it, you love the Lord and the things of the Spirit.

And another thing to add to my earlier reply, God forgives blasphemy. He just does not forgive the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is bigger than just rejecting God. God forgives you for rejecting Him. He forgave Judas. He called Judas friend (Matthew 26:50), even after Jesus knew that Judas would betray him and reject him. Blasphemy of the HOly Spirit is not rejecting God. I've studied this scripture for a very long time. I mean, talk about atheists, who have rejected God, but some atheists come to know God. So obviously God forgave them. Read my earlier reply to see what blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is.

Just came to me . the only other sin of same magnitude to Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is receiving the Mark of the Beast in Revelation . so i would say those written the book of life .. just cannot do it .

Some who will blaspheme Him, will also recieve the mark if they are still alive.

Hebrews 6:4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Matthew 12:31 "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.

Matthew 12:32 "Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

I agree to disagree . Saved people indwelt by the holy spirit cannot blaspheme the holy spirit . just not possible . but if anyone were to believe something different . that's fine . God does not change regardless of what we think of Him .

Romans 8

38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jude 1

24To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!

Amen.

I also think that Jesus was talking to the Pharsees in this day and time because they were rejecting His miracles and saying they were from the power of satan so He said they were blaspheming the Holy Spirit . They were ascribing Christ's works to demoniac influence. These works were wrought by the power of the Spirit
