New approach to biblical theology

Hi all,

This is not about whether I am right, but after spending many years in biblical research I wrote many circular articles o a man's group I was involved in. The posts are on the following website:

The goal is to challenge critical thinking and to present the biblical truth from a different angle.

I wrote something in another thread that I feel it suitable for this thread also. It's called eisegesis.

While exegesis draws out the meaning from the text, eisegesis occurs when a reader reads his/her interpretation into the text. As a result, exegesis tends to be objective when employed effectively while eisegesis is regarded as highly subjective. So nobody can know with complete certainty if what they have understood or interpreted is accurate. This is what makes it so hard to rescue cult members, because firstly they are not aware of eisegesis, and secondly, they read their own planted ideas into the text and only see what they have been programmed and brainwashed to see. But having said that, who can know for sure if the cult members are right or wrong, eisegesis applies to us too. Mature Christians, Scholars and Theologians who have an awareness about eisegesis, usually take great care to avoid eisegesis. But at the end of the day, how can they know with certainty if that had done that successfully? The answer is they cannot.

I read your article. To be honest with you, I have not seen what you described take place in churches. Does mean it hasn't, only that I have not seen it happen personally. Seems to me the divorace rate is about the same in church members as in the world.

I see Hosea a little differently than you I think though. To me the Book of Hosea assures us of God’s unconditional love for His people. But it is also a picture of how God is dishonored and angered by the actions of His children. How can a child who is given an abundance of love, mercy, and grace treat a Father with so much disrespect? Yet, we have done just that for centuries. As we consider how the Israelites turned their backs on God, we need to look no further than the mirror in front of us to see a reflection of those same Israelites.

Only by remembering how much God has done for each us will we be able to avoid rejecting the One who can give us eternal life in Glory instead of the Hell we deserve. It is essential that we learn to respect our Creator. Hosea has shown us that when we do make a mistake, if we have a sorrowful heart and a promise of repentance then God will again show His never-ending love to us (1 John 1:9).
