Guidance by the Holy Spirit

God who is within us helps us to be overcomers in every situation.
.....

We live in a sinful world, Satan is the god of this world, 2Cor 4:4, and as long as we are here, God is not in a position to help us overcome every situation. If that were possible, then we would be perfectly sinless and never stumble in sin.

But what God can do is give us hope, encouragement and lovingly lift us up every-time we fall down. God is so wonderful, and that's why I love Him so much.

Romans 6:1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Colossians 3:3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him

The post you refer to has nothing but God's Word in it, none of mine. So I just believe Him and do what He says, I do not argue with what He tells us in the scripture.

2 Corinthians 2:14
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

1 John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Romans 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

1 Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I lived a defeated Christian life for years, but then the Lord showed me how to stand on His Word and by His power He gives me victory in all situations. That doesn't mean problems don't come to us in life, but we don't have to cower down to the devil and let him walk all over us. We are more than conquerors in Christ! I've been on both sides. Living a victorious Christian life if much better.

Romans 6:13Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.8But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Just for clarity purposes, are you claiming you are living a perfectly sinless victorious life and never break God's 10 Commandments?

OR do you admit you are a sinner and continue to sin and continue to break God's 10 Commandments?

To continue in sin is continually living in sin and we are not to do so as already stated many times. By the power of God within us we do not have to give in to the temptation of sin. Altho we may make mistakes, or fall at times, like I mentioned before, we are
not to deliberately sin and because of the Holy Spirit is within us we have His ability to not do so.

1 John 3:6No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains [e]in communion with and in obedience to Him--deliberately, knowingly, and [f]habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him].

I am a new creature in Christan, old things have past away all thing became new. I have put off the old man and put on the new man in Christ who can stand up and take authority over the enemy, for Jesus defeated Him. His power through me can cause the enemy to flee with I submit and yield to God, instead of my flesh or will.

2 Corinthina 5:17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Ephesians 4:19Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20But ye have not so learned Christ;

21If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

In all due respect, your whole message is contradictory and ambivalent.

One sentence you indicate you have been given power to not sin, yet in the next sentence you admit to making mistakes.

So do you sin? Just answer me an honest and direct Yes or No.

If your answer is no, then do you seriously claim to have reached perfectionism and being totally sinless?

If your answer is yes, then who or what is causing you to sin?

for me is an honest yes if i yield to the flesh and a direct no if i yield to the Spirit.

Rom 6:16
Rom 6:19

Rom 6:11 Likewise count yourselves also to be truly dead to sin, but alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I'm glad I came into this thread!

Guidance by the Holy Spirit

1 John 4:1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Some go by their experience, a voice or impression and think it is God, but that is not always true. The enemy will try to deceive us at times to get us off on the wrong path and out of God’s will.

^ this really speaks to me right now.
"Try the spirit by THE Spirit."

God is awesome!!!

I was watching Father John Corapi's show on EWTN this weekend and he said some things I've never thought about before.
Like praying to the Holy Spirit to ask for understanding before reading The Bible.

I understand that in the Trinity, there are three separate entities that act as one but I guess I've neglected giving the Holy Spirit time and thought.
I totally hate to say that but its true.

So now, I'm committing myself to follow His lead.
I'm glad to come to the realization but I've got to stick to it!

That's good Krystal

John 16:13However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

We were born into sin, that's why our nature is sinful and why we cannot perfectly stop sinning and why nobody has been able to achieve it.

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

Paul explained it very well to us that is is the SIN IN US that causes us to sin, but once we are born again, we hate sinning, and we are in a constant inner battle between Spirit and flesh. Paul could relate to this, when he wrote Romans 7:14-8:1.

amen MinisterTony, with conversion we are definitely convicted against sinning... but it seems as long as i'm in this body there's always the old man, the carnal I. it's only when i feed the flesh (where my flesh is dominant and not the Spirit) that i depart from Divine influence, and therefore somewhat estranged from God and prone to sin.

may we bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2Cor 10:5).

Amen, great verse.

Amen, well said.

Before I became a Christian, I would sin and not care, in fact it never crossed my mind, I had no conscience or remorse, it didn't bother me. But one day I invited Jesus into my heart and the light bulb went on, and all of a sudden I hated sinning, and I was conscious of it and I wished I could stop sinning because it detested me. However, I have come to realise the truth, not even the men who walked with Jesus could stop sinning, and Paul explained why, he said it's the sin in us that causes us to sin, and the only solution is to receive a new body at Jesus' return.

& amen to that. and even though His indwelling took away the desire to willfully want to sin, i thank God that He is a greater Savior than i ever could be a sinner. we only can wait to be truly glorified at Jesus' return.

Have you perfectly ceased from all willful sinning?

I haven't and never will. I can try my best and will still sin. the only time I am not sinning is when I sleep :)

True. We are born into sin and born a sinner. Hence, the need to be BORN AGAIN, but this time, by the HOLY SPIRIT.

Psalm 51:5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

John 3:7 You should not be surprised at my saying, "You must be born again."
