Howdy

Hi all.

Names Rick from Manchester 21 years young.

I have 2 children a little boy called Matthew and a little girl called Lilly conceived outside of marriage and both have separate Mums. I am also now single.

Just wanted to clear that up because I don't want to act holier than thou as you can tell I was living in sin and had turned away from Gods word but I have received the gift of his forgiveness, mercy and grace and I'm now attempting to live a sin free life and working through my problems to get right and closer to God.

I hope this forum will allow me to learn and grow in the word of God as well as getting some good fellowship.

I am on fire for God and since I re-committed my life to Him He hasn't failed to speak to my heart everyday.

This Bible verse lead me back to God:

Psalm 38:4 My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear.

I know I was living in sin and what I was doing was wrong and eventually my lifestyle lead me to feel so guilty and bad and I was full of shame but God took all that away with his amazing grace and forgiveness. I am not who I was and I'm a brand new creation.

Sadly I have been apart of fellowships where people have been very small minded and judged me for my past but if God is for me who can be against me right? It's not about the past it's about the future and how I live my life now.

Anyway I look forward to getting to know some of you more and I hope this forum teaches and inspires me on my spiritual journey of deepening my relationship with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

You know you have a bad track record, so why do you judge these people who know your track record, but not your future? You have to prove yourself, and that takes time.

God's speed.

Isaiah 43:25 "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

We are to try and strive to be like God and love like he loves forgive like he forgives. God chooses to forget my past so should others.

I've not judged anyone and with the utmost respect and love to you, you haven't seen or heard the way some "Christians" have treated me within the church because of my past. When ex drug addicts or offenders come and talk about there past within the Church they are encouraged and praised for the powerful testimony but because mine is to do with sexual sin I am judged.

Again with the utmost respect and love I DON'T have to prove myself to anyone BUT God, God knows my heart and knows I'm sorry for the way I lived and I am accountable only to Him.

The woman who Jesus turned away and told everyone he who is without sin throw the first stone that woman Jesus forgave He didn't constantly remind her or bring up her sin He just told her don't sin no more.

Those who are mature enough to understand Gods word and His will need not be told or reminded of there past constantly or be held accountable for that past when they have recieved the full forgiveness of God.

Matthew 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

We are all sinners in need of the mercy and grace of the Lord Jesus I don't treat people in my fellowship any different because of there past because it's not for me to judge them or hold them accountable that's up to God I should concentrate on my own personal relationship with Him and deepening that. Why does someone need to prove to me or anyone else they are a changed person the only person they need to prove this to is God.

Matthew 17:6 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

That is proof enough if someone is loving God with all there heart and are now walking in His word and trying to live a sin free life that's all that matters.

It's disappointing to see that people treat others like this. For example out of all my post to pick out you picked out that part no hello no warm welcome which intentionally or not had made me already feel discluded from this community. If I am good enough for God I should be good enough for everyone. I feel we need to be more quick to love than quick to judge and question people about there past that's what Jesus was like anyway.

Anyway thanks for your response all the same.

Welcome, Mcrickeo, to our humble abode.:) I like your forward thinking. We can't undo the past, but we can disentangle ourselves from it and move forward. May God grant you wisdom, resolve, and strength as seek to grow in Him.

Thank you for the warm welcome and God Bless you !

May I also welcome you to the CFS community Rick. Rest assured the hand I extend to you will not have a stone in it, just a warm welcome. :)

It is not my place to judge people for their sins, but Jesus has taught us how to discern our brothers and sisters in Christ from those who are not. As one who is not without sin himself I can extend a warm welcome and the love of Christ. Everything else takes time - hope I (and others) am able to share some with you here on CFS.

As you can appreciate an open internet forum makes for a pretty mixed bunch. I expect it will take you some time also to discern who is who and what is what. In the meantime I am sure others will be along soon to add their welcome to the list.

Regards Misty.

Hello Mcrickeo

The prodigal son was welcomed back by his father with OPEN arms and had a big party thrown to celebrate.
You can be sure that there are angels in heaven rejoicing!

Some practical advice though, because of your two kids you can never let go of that past. No matter what state you were in at the time, those kids are and always will be a gift to you from God almighty. Christian duties would start in looking after them and being there for them as much as you can.

Also, I wouldnt take Arius's post so personally. He did make a good point, that you even noted in your post (Matthew 7:3, Matthew 17:6). You are looking from your side, he is looking from their side ;).

Welcome to the forums!! Glad to have you on board. Turning away from your sin and giving yourself completely to him is what its all about. God Bless you in your journey!!!
