Proclaiming The Gospel, Then And Now

We'll try to counter-balance all of the kissy-kissy stuff with a couple of sobering passages:

Revelation 21:
8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters,
and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death.”
27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie,
but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Revelation 22:
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life,
and may enter through the gates into the city.
15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters,
and whoever loves and practices a lie.

Hi 77,

Do you actually ever smile or enjoy fellowship with other Christians. To toss in some arb scriptures to "sober things up" is kind of negative dont you think. The world is negative enough as it is, surely we as Christians should be enjoying each others company? If the "kissy kissy" stuff is bothering you, if it has spiked some kind of aggression in you, well then you need to do some serious introspection into what your relationship with other Christians is based upon. Love is the greatest gift - and will make your ministry of evangelism incredibly successful.

Here is a prophetic word for you - the others on this site can confirm it or disregard it (in which case I will repent before God and never do it again) (Yes this includes those who dont believe in this kind of stuff) Please hear my heart - You have been called as an evangelist, filled with a passion to spread Gods truth, driven to reach the lost and unsaved, fully convinced that people need Christ or face eternal punishment. You have sacrificed things in your life for the sake of the gospel - these things are good but you need to do it in love, the same love which Christ had for us when He went to the cross.

The main thrust is simply LOVE! LOVE people like Christ does - passionately!

Good comment Kevin and I am on your side!!!

If we are going to use "evangelist" as our call name, it sure seems to me that we need to see love and compassion instead of aruments and conflict so that our perception will match the name.

We are known by what we say and what we do and how we say them. Perception is everything because it is the first thing we see. I am sure "77 means well, but it seems to me he is more interested in denominational stances than he is in Bible interpretation.

Now, again, about those KISSES......here they come.....:);)!!!!

Psalms 85:10
"Mercy and truth are met together and righteousness and peace have KISSED each other"!!!!!

Romans 16:16
"Salute one another with a holy KISS. The churches of Christ salute you".

I think we need to have some patience with newcomers. Most online discussions for Christians are heated as we are always having to defend our faith. I don't think most always intend on being so confrontational. After a few months they will read their posts and be shocked :), especially when they realise properly that they are talking to brothers and sisters.

On the other hand we have seen some serious cultists (not 77 - I believe his heart is in the right place) who have jumped in and ripped threads to pieces leaving only destruction in their path - usually they dont last long on this forum - probably get bored or run out of material.

Believe it or not, normally I just post God's Truth and don't feel the need to argue about it.

But, when someone vehemently comes against it (often times saying it is from Satan),
then I stand up and fight back for God's Truth (especially when it is an important issue).

1 -- I believe cessationism is an important issue, especially now.
2 -- I believe Christians will greatly benefit in the tough days ahead,
if they have STRONG faith that God WILL perform much-needed miracles for them!
3 -- I believe this takes priority over being deceived by Satan during the Great Tribulation.
4 -- I hope you see the connection between 2 and 3.

P.S. I'm no longer an evangelist ... I'm retired.

KJ.........I want to believe you but in all honesty, what I see is that those same people you are talking about tend to fade away.

Look at who is active today and then compare that with a year ago and you will see a lot of people have gone on.

I wish they would stay, grow and fellowship with us as there are some really wonderful people on this site.

OOOps, I just read Kevins post and I agree with his comment as well.

Which comments were directed at you which stated "often times saying it is from Satan"

There is no retirement in God's kingdom - you still have the gift and you still have much to give, in what ever way God leads you.

“And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples,
which are not written in this book;
but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.”
(John 20:30-31)
