I am starting to hate my self when I sin...

I have several sins that I struggle with on a daily basis. One in particular which is probably the most popular in our country... sexual lust.. masturbation ect. This does not mean I go out and have intercourse with other women, but it's more rather private. Like this morning, I was 15 mins late for work because of it. I woke up early and that was the first thing that popped into my mind. I fought it and ignored it for sometime. But the last hour.. well I fell to temptation again. I am absolutely sick of it.

Romans 7: 14-20 describes this situation perfectly.. We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

I know that I shouldn't be sinning, but I still do. I know that I can't do it on my own. The reason why myself and everyone else sins is because we are enticed by a thought that leads to an action. When we get that thought we do NOT go to Jesus first to let Him take care of it. Every time I do, He takes care of it. But sometimes I don't. And I am really starting to hate my self for it.

All evil comes from 3 things in this world.. A: Selfishness/pride, B: Pleasure or C: Money. All of those three coincide with each other. My sin is mainly in pleasure. Why do we fall for sexual lust? Carnal pleasure. Now, I understand that sex is not evil in nature because it's a gift from God. But lusting outside of marriage and committing adultery is.

Guilt comes from the devil because it brings you down, but conviction is from the Holy Spirit. I get a feeling in my stomach when I am about to our while I am sinning most of the time. Why can't I go to Christ everytime? I want to. Just like Paul struggled with. Thank God he died on that cross. This sin is going to get me in trouble and I don't want that. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

My dear friend............we are all in the same situation!

Of course everyone is not tempted by sexual matters, BUT WE ARE ALL IN A SITUATION in which sin troubles us.

The verses you posted from Romans 7 tells us all that Paul had the same problems we all have in one way or another. THAT is why we needed a Savior to save us from our sin because we can not stop the process of committing sins.

For a Christian there ARE degrees of sin. We are renewing our mind day by day. Thinking of adultery and actually doing it are different in extremity but as Jesus pointed out, both are sin. The extremity of sin is what we have to discern! All good Christians should NOT be doing the actual acts of murder, adultery, fornication, stealing etc. The battle for Christians should be taking place in their mind. The sad news is, because of the current immorality of this world, weakness of our flesh and persistence of demons / devil, this battle seems to never end. The good news is that the bible says God will pour out The Holy Spirit more in these days to help us.

Practical advice, acknowledge that you can't abstain like Paul, pray and fast hard for a wife! Work on the level of immorality of your thoughts. Judge your motivation for those thoughts. Are you thinking of another man's wife? Would you like it if someone thought of your wife like that? Are you watching porn? watching that worsens the situation. As hard as it is, try your best to avoid to it. Think of how the devil has those poor woman in his clutches.

It's irritating how we can get victory on our thought life today, but tomorrow those same thoughts return and we fall hard. Judge yourself harshly every day! But especially when you STOP fighting immoral thoughts! The reality is we will be fighting evil thoughts until we are in heaven. God will forgive us 7x70 times a day for sincere repentance which can only exist if we are fighting / carrying our cross. Something else to think about, I won't leave my wife if she thinks of other men, but I will leave her if she is actually with another man, if she doesn't fight her thoughts, they WILL lead her into adultery and as sad as it is I will have no choice but to ''hand her over'' to the other guy and leave her. It is the same with God. That is the real risk with evil thoughts. You posting this thread shows God you are fighting! He will daily give us the strength to keep up the good fight!

Yes I agree! Paul also talks about that as well! I wanted to get married so bad since I was a kid. I am 26 now. And mutual attraction doesn't exist for me at all. I can't find anyone who will except me for who I am. No one wants a good christian guy anymore. And all the good ones are married.
 
When I was 27 or so I was finally and completely exasperated with trying to find a wife. So, I gave up trying to do it myself and just said to God "find me a wife or a monastery, I don't care which". Six months later I met my wife, we've been married 21 years now.
Be patient and let God handle things.

One caveat, be careful what you ask for, you may get it.

What I also realised is that God need US to be ready for a wife. We could be too busy doing our own thing instead of trusting and waiting on Him. We could also be blind to see His provision. But rest assured the correct marriage partner is very important to God. If not we assume He knows how many hairs are on our head but forgot that He gave us a sex drive that would oneday result in us desiring a wife, NOT likely!

:) I think the reality is everybody wants a Christian, but for fornication. A Christian needs to be the one to discern.

James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Romans 13:14But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Sometimes believer sow to the flesh when they watch their favorite TV show that is sporting their eye candy. Sometime media in other fashion like music, magazines, and even comic books can serve as a provision for the flesh. The trick here is to ask Jesus to help you be honest with yourself as to what is catering to it so as to stop feeding it.

But no matter the circumstances, it is the scripture that gives us the motivation we need to lean on Christ to repent.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Now this is not referring to loss of salvation, but the first inheritance of being that vessel unto honour in His House to attend the Marriage Supper at the pre tribulational rapture event.

See here how a believer stops believing in Him because he had erred from the truth and had their faith overthrown, but they are still His. As you read on, there is a necessity to depart from iniquity to avoid being that vessel unto DISHONOUR in His House.

2 Timothy 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

So there is a loss of the first inheritance if we do not depart from inqiuity, and like the prodigal son, gave up his inheritance for wild living. He is still son, but like Esau, the loss will be great as he will be left behind at the pre tribulatioanl rapture event for not repenting of it by His help and by His grace, in which there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth over that loss that God has to perform a miracle by wiping the tears from the eyes of those saints coming out of the great tribulation to get over that tremendous loss. In that parable when the loyal son was standing without because of the celebration of the return of the prodigal son within, the father told the loyal son that all that he has was his, meaning it was not so for the prodigal son. So desire those things that are eternal above and not the vanishing glory here on the earth which will be soon forgotten in light of eternity to avoid defrauding yourself.

This is my favorite promise from God in verse 11-13 which the Psalmist needed in spite of fearing His judgments.

Psalm 19:9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. 12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

May you find hope in these promises as He has enabled me to hope in also.

Psalm 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

If we could not save ourselves, then the same faith we have in Christ Jesus as our Saviour that we are saved is the same faith we can have in Christ Jesus as our Good Shepherd to help us to follow Him so that we may know Him and the power of His resurrection.

Ah... sexual sins are always the most embarassing... I had a horrible problem with that too.. Im just gonna call it the M- word lol I hope im not disguisting or making stomachs turn if so You can just skip my post.

but basically I've been where you're at , its especially hard when youre young. Im twenty one now, and Im glad to says its been a loong while since ive done that.....gosh I feel so weird XD sorry.. anywho.. back then I thought it was okay to do it because, well my health teacher said it was okay, it felt great and I wasn't hurting anyone (atleast so I thought) and most importantly I wasn't at risk for stds.. But...doing the M-word has a way of making you feel pretty sad and alone XD it does..even before I was saved I'd feel that feeling like this isn't right ,but I'd ignore it.

The M-word , well masterbation, w/e uh... it basically gives you empty promises, you think it'll satisfy you but it doesn't, not only does it not satisfy you ..it ,well it made me feel more alone and worse off ..but the worse times 2 part was that it makes you want to do it again! So it's like you're chasing after nothing.....

But anyways, no to the part where I stopped.... I think I asked God to help me, like change my desires.
Also not entertaing lust thoughts, watching lustful things on the tv or computer, and just finding something else to do when you feel that urge. Also, what really helped my brother was meditating on scripture the one where paul says to flee from sexual immorality, he'd say that aloud when he'd feel like doing...that. But honestly, it takes time and pray, and dependence on God. Only God can clean us up, we can't do it ourselves...so as long as you're trying to resist it God sees.. and he'll know you're trying. Just ask God to dull your desire for masterbation.. and when ever you feel that urge stand up, do something else... I 'd try not to go to bed until I was dog tired XD that way I knew I couldn't do that..I just fall asleep..

I really hopes this help... I think I've beared a little more of of my soul than I wanted to share.. i thinks its time for me to disappear for a while XD
 
I also struggle with lust and masturbation. I don't hate sex but I do hate my own weakness in that regard. I'm always disgusted with myself after I do it. To be reminded of how my own flesh controls me is discouraging! The Devil must not have to work very hard at all to tempt men away from Him with the flesh! Female flesh is all it takes! :oops:

I want a wife, but first I must be made ready. I knoew that. I know that I am not currently ready. God is working in my life. For me, to be led by my Heavenly Father is like following a trail of breadcrumbs ...

In my personal experience I have found that when I sin it is usually because I want to not because I have to. When I stay focused on "Christ in me" and rebuke the thought to sin in Jesus' name the thought will eventually subside and will be removed. Apostle Paul taught us that we do not need to serve sin that we can concentrate on our new position in Christ and have victory over sin (Romans Chapter 6).

Agreed....but the rebuking of sin in Jesus name does not remove the old nature of our sin which is with us to the day we die. That action may help us in turning from the sin of that moment, but Satan simply moves on to another avenue of temptation. Remember, we do not have to commit a sin to be guilty of that sin. Thinking about it, lusting after it means we have done it and there in lies the problem.

Think for a moment on all the votes you have cast for those in political office. IF we have voted for a person who is for abortion, we in fact are guility of abortion.

What about homosexuality. If we vote for a person who wants to legalize homosexual marriage, are we not guility of the sin of homosexuality????

We will say........NOT ME, I didn't do that. Then how do these people keep getting elected??????
Someone is not telling the truth are they? Just consider the elections we went through. One man is for abortion/homosexual marriage and the other denies the diety of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Isn't a vote for either one a sin????? THINK ABOUT IT before you answer.

We can not ignore Romans 7:15-25 because we are all the same as Paul, sinners saved by grace.
We want to do good but we always find ourselves being persued by sin.
 
Agreed....but the rebuking of sin in Jesus name does not remove the old nature of our sin which is with us to the day we die. That action may help us in turning from the sin of that moment, but Satan simply moves on to another avenue of temptation. Remember, we do not have to commit a sin to be guilty of that sin. Thinking about it, lusting after it means we have done it and there in lies the problem.

Think for a moment on all the votes you have cast for those in political office. IF we have voted for a person who is for abortion, we in fact are guility of abortion.

What about homosexuality. If we vote for a person who wants to legalize homosexual marriage, are we not guility of the sin of homosexuality????

We will say........NOT ME, I didn't do that. Then how do these people keep getting elected??????
Someone is not telling the truth are they? Just consider the elections we went through. One man is for abortion/homosexual marriage and the other denies the diety of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Isn't a vote for either one a sin????? THINK ABOUT IT before you answer.

We can not ignore Romans 7:15-25 because we are all the same as Paul, sinners saved by grace.
We want to do good but we always find ourselves being persued by sin.


I don't vote for that very reason. I have never voted. I might when a Christian shows up.
 
Subject: Hating yourself when you sin. Isn't most sin an act of self satisfaction ? Are you suggesting that you should not feel satisfied of yourself ? Do you not want anyone else to know you satisfy yourself ? Can you not think of something else to do to bring on such self satisfaction ? Aren't these some pretty stupid questions ? Here you are, your mind is running ramped, adrenalin is flowing, you have just got to do this, no on will know. Whatever this thing is you must do, now is the time, and you have covered all the bases so you won't get caught.
Me thinks that the above describes ones thoughts when considering any sort of sin.
If that is the case and you are ready to do whatever it is, don't forget that the Holy Spirit is within you.
 
A problem I have had was common bait and I was to handle it in ways not intended. When I wuz growed up I found myself growed out some times too. Wut ? Then I started getting little messages from friends about how exciting it was and how I should not let anyone know. Mom and Dad said nothing. What I didn't know was that when man was put on earth he was told to have babies. God designed the baby plants and the workers then he offered gratuity (reward) for going to work at it. Nothing wrong with that pay. Folks started clammerin at the doors wanting to work overtime n stuff. As usual they got out of control. They wanted the pay because it was great but didn't want the baby. Then they wanted to switch machines and then workers wanted to stop using the baby machine and get pay using workers without the right parts. Instead of getting back to the original design, they went to work, got paid, then removed the product from the machine and put it in the dumpster. Workers are practicing their craft using photographs of baby machines and paying machines to let them work on them.
 
Something I found interesting was that there are some folks out there who love to gossip and some who thrive on telling a wife of some unsuspecting soul that he is messin around. I also found that a goodly percent of those unsuspecting wives believe it. I also found that I was victim to such a tragedy as well, and not just once. My wife believed her and she even told my young son. I didn't know that for several years but did know that something was bad wrong. To this day the wife still thinks it was true but for some reason has not left me.
Truth is, what would I want to get involved with more than one for anyway ?
 
Lets think of sin in this way - Jesus has set us free from the bondage of sin and it's consequence, death. Instead of fighting sin try a different aproach - WE ARE FREE NOT TO SIN. We dont need to sin because we are free from it already - Jesus made sure of that.

Every time the temptation comes, and yes it will come, just remind yourself you dont need to give in, you dont need to bow your knee to Satan - you are free not to sin, it has no hold over you. We are not slaves to sin!
 
I have several sins that I struggle with on a daily basis. One in particular which is probably the most popular in our country... sexual lust.. masturbation ect. This does not mean I go out and have intercourse with other women, but it's more rather private. Like this morning, I was 15 mins late for work because of it. I woke up early and that was the first thing that popped into my mind. I fought it and ignored it for sometime. But the last hour.. well I fell to temptation again. I am absolutely sick of it.

Romans 7: 14-20 describes this situation perfectly.. We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

I know that I shouldn't be sinning, but I still do. I know that I can't do it on my own. The reason why myself and everyone else sins is because we are enticed by a thought that leads to an action. When we get that thought we do NOT go to Jesus first to let Him take care of it. Every time I do, He takes care of it. But sometimes I don't. And I am really starting to hate my self for it.

All evil comes from 3 things in this world.. A: Selfishness/pride, B: Pleasure or C: Money. All of those three coincide with each other. My sin is mainly in pleasure. Why do we fall for sexual lust? Carnal pleasure. Now, I understand that sex is not evil in nature because it's a gift from God. But lusting outside of marriage and committing adultery is.

Guilt comes from the devil because it brings you down, but conviction is from the Holy Spirit. I get a feeling in my stomach when I am about to our while I am sinning most of the time. Why can't I go to Christ everytime? I want to. Just like Paul struggled with. Thank God he died on that cross. This sin is going to get me in trouble and I don't want that. Is anyone else in a similar situation?
There is only one way man can live with out ever sinning. Man can only defeat Satan/sin if he or she has the indwelling of God.


One needs to have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and then allow him to teach and give him or her the grace to live the whole Word of God.


When one is living God’s Word then he comes and makes a home in that person. There is no sin in God’s home. Satan/sin can’t enter a home of God’s.


(John 14: 23) “Anyone who loves me will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.”
 
the result of sin should be sorrow not self hate ..
and the sorrow is that of disappointing God ..
I encourage you to say to yourself, today I will please God ..
we are to be each others support group .. and I say try again ..
each day we are given a new chance .. today I will succeed ..
it is not about stumbling, for God forgives stumbling of a sincere heart ..
and to hold guilt, is to say Jesus is not righteous to forgive sincere repentance ..
it is about your "kevenah" (hearts desire) ..
God knows we will stumble, what He requires is a heart that desires to please Him ..

so if your heart desires to please him, then ask God to help you to please Him ..
it really works ..
