Galatians 3:15-18

15 Brothers, I’m using a human illustration. No one sets aside or makes additions to even a human covenant[ that has been ratified. 16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say “and to seeds,” as though referring to many, but referring to one, and to your seed, who is Christ. 17 And I say this: The law, which came 430 years later, does not revoke a covenant that was previously ratified by Godand cancel the promise. 18 For if the inheritance is from the law, it is no longer from the promise; but God granted it to Abraham through the promise.

These are my thoughts please share yours.

15 God covenants are not be changed ,sometimes they may have conditions that we break for the coventant to end but, God will never break the covenant. We should also teah where the people who we teach understand.

16 God promise to Abraham is fulfilled in Christ and thru Him.

17 Having law did not change what God had promised before the law.

18 All have access to God thru Christ because of promise this is why both those who follow the law and those who did not follow after the law need Christ and can have Him thru accepting the truth in repetence.

Verse #17 could be read as............."I say this; the law, which appeared 430 years later, can not void the covenant earlier ratified by God, so as to make the promise ineffective."

Paul's point seems to be that if human will, once confirmed, cannot be altered (vs 15), how much less will the divine conenant be changed 430 years after being ratified by God.

The Abrahamic covenant promised justification by faith. In the 430 years between the giving of this covenant and the law's appearance, God justified man by faith. When the law came, it did not, neither could not---void this priciple of justification by faith. Had it done so, the law would have made God's peomise of no effect!

So then, since the law can neither save neither can it annul the Abrahamic covenant, what purpose did it serve????

It was added alongside the covenant because of transgressions, That is, to reveal the depraved character of man's sin.
 
This idea is very important, also for how you understand your relationship with God and your own religious life. The outstanding feature of God's covenant with Abraham was that it was based on God's undeserved kindness. It did not change when God gave Latter law. God's covenant with Abraham was by his undeserved kindness which was precisely aimed at the coming of Jesus as the best evidence of his undeserved kindness. Therefore your deepest foundation of your relationship with God should not be of your good capacity, but God's undeserved kindness.
