Salvation, The Good News

Salvation, the good news.
What is eternal life?
The answer to this question can be found in John 17:3, “And this is eternal life: to have knowledge of you, the only true God, and of him whom you have sent, even Jesus Christ.”
John recorded this prayer of Jesus as He was preparing to go to the cross. Jesus says that eternal life is to know God and that Jesus was sent from God. He came to restore our relationship with God. Jesus died for our sins, if wê accept that, then the relationship with God is restored. Sin was standing in the way between us and God. Wê were born with a sinful nature that had to be dealt with. Jesus did that on the cross. By faith, wê receive forgiveness of sin and God declares us free from eternal death. Let's look in the next paragraph at the way to eternal life.
The way to eternal life.
John 3:16, “For God had such love for the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever has faith in him may not come to destruction but have eternal life.”
The way to eternal life is through believing in Jesus. When you pray for salvation and accept God’s love, you entered into eternal life. For this reason you do not have to wonder any longer about your eternal destiny. When you prayed , you sealed your future in heaven with God. Let’s look at Romans 10:10.
Romans 10:10, “For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation.”
As you prayed for salvation, you believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth that Jesus is your savior. The result is being born again. This scripture states that by confessing you become a child of God. When you believe, pray and confess, you are justified, just as if you’d never sinned. God provide such a gift with His love. Now, Let’s look at John 14:6.
John 14:6, ”Jesus said to him, I am the true and living way: no one comes to the Father but by me.”
Jesus says He is the only way, not a way, but THE way to God. There is no other way. The blood Jesus shed on the cross is the only way wê can be cleansed of our sin so that wê can be in fellowship with God. Jesus blood was pure because He had no sin. The last scripture in this section is 1 John 5: 11-13.
1 John 5:11-13, “He came to the things which were his and his people did not take him to their hearts. To all those who did so take him, however, he gave the right of becoming children of God--that is, to those who had faith in his name: Whose birth was from God and not from blood, or from an impulse of the flesh and man's desire.”
God does not force Himself upon us, it’s your choice whether you want to receive Him or not. By receiving Jesus, you become a child of God. This verse confirms our rights in receiving Him. Let’s look at the next section of this Bible study.
Now wê are the children of God.
John 1:12, “To all those who did so take him, however, he gave the right of becoming children of God--that is, to those who had faith in his name:”
When receiving Jesus, you become a child of God. That makes us all brothers and sisters in the family of God. Wê are spiritual brothers and sisters. The next verse in this section is 1 John 3:1-2
1 John 3:1-2, “See what great love the Father has given us in naming us the children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not see who we are, because it did not see who he was. My loved ones, now we are children of God, and at present it is not clear what we are to be. We are certain that at his revelation we will be like him; for we will see him as he is.”
Christ’s love for us is so great that He covers us with His name and gives us the right to be His children. Wê are the children of the King of kings. Let’s look at the last verse in this section.
Romans 8:15-16, “For you did not get the spirit of servants again to put you in fear, but the spirit of sons was given to you, by which we say, Abba, Father. The Spirit is witness with our spirit that we are children of God:”
Christ wants to ensure that wê know that wê are His children. It is mentioned several times in the Word. The Holy Spirit testified with our spirit that wê are indeed children of God. The next section wê going to look at is “God rejoice over us.”
God rejoices over us
Luke 15:7, “I say to you that even so there will be more joy in heaven when one sinner is turned away from his wrongdoing, than for ninety-nine good men, who have no need of a change of heart.”
In Luke 15, Jesus talked about the parable of a shepherd who had 100 sheep. One got lost and the shepherd went to find him. When he finds the lost sheep, he rejoiced and celebrate it with His family. The same happens when one sinner turns away from his wrongdoing. The same happens when wê accept Jesus as our savior.
Conclusion.
1 John 1:9, “If we say openly that we have done wrong, he is upright and true to his word, giving us forgiveness of sins and making us clean from all evil.”
As Christians wê still going to sin because wê are human and born in a sinful world. When wê sin, wê do not need to run and hide. Jesus wants us to come to Him and to confess our wrongdoings, He will forgive us just as he promised in His word. He loves us. Wê are His children. Now, Let us look at the last verse of this Bible study.

PRAYER OF SALVATION
Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:10 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.Amen.

Other than the sinners prayer I think it is a great post. I have started to thing about the sinners prayer want Jesus to lead our life He will give us the words we need to say, we will not to read something somebody else came up with. If someone would speak to God using their own words it would also mean more than just quoting someone.

Yep. I agree. The prayer of salvation needs to be something persoanl and from the heart when a sinner is convicted by the Holy Spirit.

I'm not familiar with any Bible verse that says you have to pray in order to be saved; but I do know quite a few Bible passages that say you must believe in order to be saved. Prayer is a work, a ministry, and we've not saved by works. I've come across several people who think they have been saved because they went down front and recited a particular prayer. Many of them have a lifestyle that would lead me to wonder.
