Bible Knowledge Quiz

Let's see how much we know (or what we can learn). Answer the question and provide one or more scripture references, then post a question of your own. Try to avoid questions where there are differences of opinion over the answers. I'll go first with a slightly tricky one...

Which of the following kings built the first temple?

  • David
  • Jedidiah
  • Jehoshaphat
  • Hezekiah

The correct answer is one that I provided. Provide a scripture reference. (Actually, you'll need two for this one.)

Jedediah

24 Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and he went to her and made love to her. She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon. The Lord loved him; 25 and because theLord loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah.[a]

Sparrow: I guess this quote isn't from the King James. (The King James is sometimes a bit less anatomically direct, so to speak.)

Blessings.

PS: Years ago, Bible quizzes were quite popular. It was a good way for a lot of people to build up their general Bible knowledge.

Which king dreamed about a large statue of a man made from different metals?

Nebuchadnezzar

Daniel 2:28,31-33
but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and he has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. ... You saw, O king, and behold, a great image. This image, mighty and of exceeding brightness, stood before you, and its appearance was frightening. The head of this image was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its middle and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

What is the first part of creation that God blessed?

The fifth day

Because it is written in:

Genesis 1:20-22
20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

What is it that has no part in love?
1) Anger
2) Hatred
3) Fear
4) Jealousy

All of them.

Love suffers long, and is kind; love envies not; love vaunts not itself, is not puffed up,
doth not behave itself unseemly, seeks not its own, is not provoked, takes not account of evil;
rejoices not in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1Cor 13:4-7

I the six days of Creation, which day did God not say it is good .......I know this isn't part of the OP quiz and if he will allow it as a bonus can you state the principle as to why He didn't call it good?

The specific answer to Sparrow's question is 'fear':

"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love." (1 John 4:18)

We'll go with JPT's question.

The second day

Genesis 1:6-8
6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.

(There are many opinions as to why God did not call it good, and in his original post, Fadingman said to avoid these type of questions. :))

In Isaiah 40, what does God carry close to His heart (in His bosom)?

Okaaay, you're right, I'll play by the rules.

Come on friends, read Isiah 40, even if you are too timid to answer it's a promise you can treasure and rely on.

(hint) look up the word carry in your concordance

God's thoughts to me (Psalm 139.28).

Question:

Are believers supposed to be dead to the law? (in Galatians 2).
