Sexual Sin?

I saw this question posted on another Christian forum site and it generated a lot of discussion. I wanted to see what people thought here. The question was:

"Is the sexual behaviour of others a concern to you? Why is this? Where do you draw the line between moral sexuality and sexual immorality?"

Fornication (sex before marriage), Adultery, homosexuality and paraphilia would all be considered sexually immoral. However, as to what extent this concerns me, what one does in their home is not my business, but if it is affecting the community, especially the faithful, that would be where the line is crossed. I'm afraid my own sins are far to burdensome to warrant me making judgments about others.

Unlike a lot of Christians, I do not like condemning public officials for sexual scandals, inasmuch as it does not affect the execution of their office.

In some extreme cases (like the incestuous man in 1 Corinthians) excommunication could be used to compel someone into repentance, but I think that is a very rare case.

Very, If someone is making bad choices in one area of their life constantly, then they are also making bad choices in other areas that affect others. Did Adam, and Eve's choice affect others?

Where people are trying to legislate politically for sexual sin to be accepted as normal and desired, and where it affects and usurps the standard that God has set down for marriage and family---that all crosses the line.

The problem is that not all people see the Bible as God's word, therefore they can make the case that it is neither God's standard nor is it sin at all. And that may be because they are atheists, it may be that they are religious but non-Christian, it may also be that they are Christian but interpret "God's standard" differently than you do.

"Bad choices" how, though? Bad in the way the Bible would call them bad?

Well, then, if people do not see the bible as God's word, then they still are outside of God. The true leaders of this world are the people of God---we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world---and that is why there will always be opposition to what the wicked world is trying to do.

Before this evil generation, there was not too much of a problem with the unsaved world understanding that sexual sin and perversion is wrong and needed to be hidden. Shame was the fuel for that. Today, wickedness has such a toehold on men's souls that shame is not even a deterrent anymore. People are brazen in sinning against God's laws, and proud for doing so.

Christians are not included in this kind of mindset. They do not interpret God's standards as evil men do.

Not only does the Word call them bad, but also in man,s own conscience knows it is wrong. As for the flesh it has no conscience, and it will continue in these kinds of sins without flinching. Every sin a man does is outside his body, but sexual impurity directly affects the body and causes more harm than other sins that affect it indirectly.

1Co 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
1Co 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

Marriage draws the line. 1 Cor 5 clears all doubt too. I was tempted to post the whole chapter here, it will answer all your questions!
