A Profound Quote I Just Discovered.

About the only time I remember ever being truly bored was when, as a young child, my mom dragged me to the store for her clothes shopping. My soul was awake and screaming.

Greetings:
Waxes me to:
If you keep your senses awake and have your soul always asleep, you're going to get gored.

bye

The term "bored" does not compute for me. There is not time enough in one human lifetime for this. With the world's libraries at your fingertips, with just understanding the Bible... I do not need the world to be entertained, I keep myself great company.

That is so true. It's a struggle for me to just sit and breath without doing more. When I sit on the terrace I want to 'fix' something - the grass, a flower, the squeak...I need to meditate more that's for sure.

I think people today feel they need a rush or to always be doing something so they aren't bored. If we could just sit back and enjoy the beauty of God's creation and slow down a bit we would see that there is nothing boring about life that God has given us.
I agree. I think this is where city people really miss out. There is nothing quite like sitting back and watching wildlife interact with each other in the mountains. I think this is the reason the city dwellers are generally just casual Christians, if there is such a thing.

It's the one reason I dislike my job - cities. I only work in major cities. I grew up on 15 acres with a large hill on it and caves below it. I really REALLY miss it.

I thought I'd share it with you. It's from St. Josemaria Escriva.

"You're bored? That's because you keep your senses awake and your soul asleep."
I'm rarely bored, I think. I'm generally thinking nothing profound though. I wish I was a great thinker.

I think I'm horrible company.

This is the reason G-d invented camping for us city-folks!

I guess, but it still doesn't seem like the same thing. I was thinking about how city folk go to zoos on occasion and see birds and an occasional tree and can still be atheists but it's rare to see someone that actually lives in the country that is atheist. The country people I've met that are atheists are so openly hostile towards Christians and Christianity as a whole I would say that they have some sort of other issue rather than just lack of faith.

I find you good company @Huntingteckel ;). All who walk in Christ, not to sound maudlin, have the greatest company ever. And I am never bored. I don't have a lack of things I should do, want to do, or don't want to do but oughta. When I want to relax, I read a good book of fiction or watch something on my filled up Tivo or recorder. Or make up stories I never seem to have time to type out, in my head. Whether in the country or city, I am always filled with wonder. I vote Take the word out of your dictionary.
