Knowing God's Will

To whom much is given much is expected. Just obey what you know now. We live in the now, and today has enough problems, tommorow will have its own problems. When we see a promise in the bible from God we see obedience from a believer. Take for instance abraham. He took his son up the mountian first. God will test us. Its all about now, right here right now. What ever His plan is Its His plan. He will bring it to pass. Just focus on Him. The gift giver is greater than the gift. Your calling will become clear to you in time, but thats later. You are still here, in the now. Still pray about it, yes. And ask Him to use you for His glory. But if you pray this be prepared to trust Him totaly, even if it means doing something you are not comfortable with, for instance speaking to pharoh.
Wow! Thank you.

Christianity is just like physical growth. When we are young in the Lord we don't know much, and are always asking questions, just like kids do. But then, as we grow in the Lord that glass which was once dark and hard to see through becomes clearer, and we go from a child to an adult.
Like the previous poster said, just do what you know is right, and as you become obedient to what you know, the Lord will show you more, which causes you to be more responsible for doing that too. "For unto much is given, much is required." As long as you stay obedient to what the Lord gives you, he will continually give you more. There is no limit to how close you can get to God.

1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

How can you know? When the time is right - God will make you understand.....

Until then - PREPARE.....
Start weaning yourself off of the Milk and into the MEAT
Get into a habit of regular scripture study
Make a notebook where you write down prayers and answers... Write down scriptural insights, etc...
Consider participating in a home group bible study through your church,
Consider getting involved with some Service so you can give to other people as you were given to....
Give tithes and offerings....
Consider prayer and fasting

Another one... Pray for Obedience to God's will.... Pray for opportunities to be obedient to his will - in whatever it may be..... Small things turn into medium things which turn into large things....

See... So many times, we want to know the Future... The Grand Plan.... but you just never know WHAT the real grand plan is.... Something you think may be a Major ministry turns out to be a sideline.... Something you think of as a little sideline turns into a major ministry....

Hang in there. Don't get impatient.

Great advice.

Read the Bible as much as you can. Study it by thinking of a subject you would like to know more about, like baptism or "what my attitude should be like", etc., and look online, or in a subject/topic index, for verses which deal with your concerns and interests. Learning about one subject often leads you to other subjects. Once we start getting a grasp of the content of the Bible, we start to become "priests" of a sort and we then start to understand the ministry we are called to undertake. You should get involved with a church, find out how you can help them in their ministries, and you will start to have opportunities presented to you and you will find yourself drawn to those things which are God's will for you and the amazing things begin for you. The greatest commandments are to love God first, and love others. Keep this in your heart and you have already done God's will, for love is His will, always.

I was lead to elaborate on studying Bible subjects. Let's say you are going to study..."What is God's will for me?":)
One way to start would be to look up any part of Paul's epistles which refer to "God's will" or "the will of God."
Then consider which person in the Bible would exemplify the subject you are studying, and in this instance, it is someone who did God's will. Obviously, in this case, Jesus would be the best example of this, Abraham, Paul and Daniel would be others. Then we analyze how this person carried this out, what God did for them and so on. Jesus was a special case in that he was sinless, had great faith and was dedicated to his ministry and purpose. But we can see that he taught the disciples that they needed faith to heal others, along with fasting and prayer. He helped all who desired his help, knew God's word so he could teach, and followed the Father's will even when he didn't want to, as in his prayer to the Father to "take this cup from me", but "Thy will be done".
So basically, he knew God's word, had faith, prayed to the Father a lot, stood up for what was right, helped and loved others, and was willing to do the Father's will. We will never measure up to all of that, but it gives us a direction to the path of God's will.
May God bless you much.

Paul writes this in Romans 12

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

We will learn what is God's will by walking in His revealed will

What do you mean?

Honestly, I do hear Him. Clearly. And I have seen Him in visions and dreams. He said I should just trust Him. I just wanted to know what other people say about knowing His will. But your responses confirmed what He said.

Thank you all for your responses.

how are you able to hear from him so well,i

I have heard conversations that sounded something like this:
"So G-d says to me...."
"And I says to G-d...."
"Then G-d says to me...."
"And I says to G-d...."
Etc.

And I've heard conversations like this:
"So G-d says to me...."
"And I says to G-d...."
"Then the devil says to me...."
"And I says to to the devil...."

Both types of conversations make me want to walk away, and I do but I stay longer for the "G-d" one. Just can't handle either one well -- mainly the devil one.

BUT!!

I know G-d communicates with me at times! So why am I so critical? Because I have heard accredited to G-d things that are completely contrary to the Bible, so that tells me that it was not G-d speaking. G-d neither denies His Word nor goes against it at any time. So how do I know if what I think He is saying is Him? When it correlates with the Word.

One other thing I would write: there have been those who have said G-d spoke to them, and I wrote their statement off. Why? Because I had my own wrong understanding of the Word. We have to be so careful.

I'll pray God helps you to become more comfortable with this. It's hard when folks fake it or misuse the gifts God gave them.

My friend Rav is always so wise... Good ...acceptable ...and then perfect. God meets every believer at a level that they can find obedience according to the grace He has given to them. The Greek word here is the same word used for one who "presents" a animal sacrifice to the temple..the Good (outer court)..acceptable (inner court) and perfect (holy of holies) is represented in this passage.

how long? ive been saved 4 yes now, and I'm only slightly better, very slight.
and I agree with you that its hard to sorta accept this gift when some fake it orbmisue it...
especially when they misuse it.

I'm not sure how long. I'm not too experienced to give you advice. I used to be frustrated about being filled with the Holy Spirit and hearing God's voice. I would ask folks from church and my mom. They all say to be patient and it will happen in God's timing. God knows your heart pancakes.... Just trust in Him and wait....

You spend one on one time with Him? I would spend like an hour alone with Him, reading my bible and singing songs to Him.

So.... It's very important to come to grips with how God communicates to YOU personally.....
Some people have visions and dreams.... Some do not...
Some people "Hear" from God... Some do not....
Some people get direction insight from Scripture.... Some do not...
Etc...

The important part here is to learn to tune in to how God communicates with YOU.... Don't be unhappy that God doesn't do things with you that He does with other people....

Thanks

Though I think seeking His face involves praying, reading bible and fasting. His presence is really strong during a fast though.
I have seen Jesus.

Jesus promised to show himself to those who live his Word.

(John 14:21) “anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them will be one who loves me; and anybody who loves me will be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and show myself to him.”

I am a home of God’s also. Jesus told us that those who proved they love him that he would make a home in them. Again notice Jesus says those who live his Word.

(John 14: 23) “Anyone who loves me will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.”

One can’t live God’s Word without being led by the Holy Spirit.

(1 John 2: 27) “But you have not lost the anointing that he gave you, and you do not need anyone to teach you; the anointing he gave teaches you everything: you are anointed with truth, not with a lie, and as it has taught you, so you must stay in him.”

Jesus has called me by my name, and I have been following him for forty some years.

(John 10:1-5)"I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. e calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."
