What do you guys think about people who have near-death-experiences? There are plenty of testimonies of people claiming to have seen hell and even spoken to Jesus. Can we trust their testimonies?

Why not? Paul did.

2 Corinthians 12:2 (KJV)
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth; ) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

What about Daniel? or Jonah? or John?

Yea but then people come back with teachings that aren't in the Bible. For example a man named Howard Storm says that there are life on other planets, and the word of God has nothing to say about it, WHY!

Do you believe everything is written in the word of God? Listen, you must filter everything through the Holy Spirit. He will lead you to all truth a little at a time until the matter is settled. That means some people are going to say things that are not real so they get 15 mins of fame. That's a trick of the devil. If you don't listen to the Holy Spirit then you won't know the truth. The devil is the enemy and his job is to confuse and distort. Just like the enemies of the United States will print counterfeit money, so our money becomes useless. Counterfeit stories will come so that the truth is distorted or watered down. Nothing the Holy Spirit says will ever contradict the written word of God. Ya gotta ask Him.

Yea but this guy's NDE is so genuine, he was an atheist and now he paints pictures of Jesus and sings in his church choir. He talks about love and all this stuff. But I can't believe anything else he says.

I'd like to think there are other planets with life on them, but the Bible doesn't teach it, so I don't want to believe.

That might make me sound closed minded, but I kindof have to be to please God, you know?

Who are we to say that God MUST reveal everything in the Bible? Just because it's not in the Bible doesn't mean it can't be true. Now, if it contradicts something in the Bible, well, that's a different story.

I received a box of books where I work: Heaven Is So Real by Choo Thomas. According to it, while she didn't call it a "near death experience," she visited heaven, where her Jesus taught her a dance she was to teach her church. It didn't take long for me to decide to rip up every book in the box, to keep them out of circulation. Not long after this, another book came out: Heaven is For Real, by Colton. I saw the movie (reluctantly) but did not read the book. The movie had many details that could not possibly be true, so I don't believe it. I have upset many people by not believing it, however, but I think that their claim that it is true is ridiculous. They should have just left it as a nice little children's movie and not tried to claim that it was true. If you choose, you might read this: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/filmch...-heaven-is-for-real-contradicts-the-book.html .

However, I would not try to say that all near-death experiences are fake, just that a lot of the ones I have heard probably are. My sister's husband is one of the exceptions: his was interesting and lasted several days as he passed away. My sister and I still bring it up in wonder.

I don't know if you would call my first husband's experience a "near death experience," but he took me out to the garage the morning of his accident and asked me if I knew how to run everything in it. I answered, "Yes -- everything but the snow blower." He responded, without any logical reason, "You'll have to get someone to show you." He was gone before noon.

I watched a true-story movie this weekend called "Is Heave Real" about a 4- or -5 year-old boy who visited heaven. While there he met his great-grandfather and his miscarriage sister. When talking to his parents he told them about it. The parents had never told anyone about this miscarriage so they were shocked because they didn't even know the sex of the baby. It was riviting. While the dad was doing some homework he heard about a little girl that had a similare experience and painted Jesus' face. The little boy confirmed it was Him. Here's a news story about them both: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...an-image-on-cnn-captured-exactly-what-he-saw/

I saw the movie. And while I'm not a firm believer in it, I really liked it!

I think it is not that near death experiences are not real, what is questionable would be the interpretations that can be placed on them.

Not a NDE this one, but I in my early Christian life had what I understand was a vision of Christ in heaven. He was walking toward me and He was too far away to show fine detail. He/we were standing on what could be described as a sea of gold hued glass. This 'vision' only lasted a second or so. It was so brilliant that my mind 'fled' from it due to the overwhelming brightness. Could be pure rubbish, could be a reminder that as a Christian I had/have much changing to do before I can exist in the Lord's presence.
At my death or at the Lord's return I will be changed of course, but in the mean time I still need to walk ever closer than I did yesterday.
But as to the real meaning/explanation, I don't know, it is not important.
Then after having a major heart attack I had what might be called a near death experience...it happened. But what to make of it?
It might be that my body/mind was so stressed that it reacted by forming this event.
It might be that I was under the alter, but my time was not yet so I was sent back to plague you guys:)
edit:: I should add that this NDE was not anything that I consciously expected things would be like.
I never saw anybody, I only heard the word that it was not time. Next thing I was aware of, a doctor looking at a mobile monitor station was remarking to other staff that something to do with my heart (rhythm?) should have stabilized by then.

Sound was not too clear, but anyways..
2Pe 3:5. For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God,
2Pe 3:6. and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.
2Pe 3:7. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
Seems to me that if the heavens are stored up for destruction with the express purpose of the destruction of the unGodly, either Jesus needed to be crucified over and over again for all these wayward aliens or they are not worth saving....or,
If there is life on other planets (intelligent and in the image of God) and not fallen in sin, well remember how Abraham reasoned with the Lord over the pending destruction of Sodom?
Gen 18:32. Then he said, "Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there." He answered, "For the sake of ten I will not destroy it."
So, if we are the only wayward lot out of this alleged many planets, would not the heavens be spared for the sake of all these 'righteous' aliens?

Would that count as NDE? I mean, going by the definition of NDE as per secular world

As long as their testimony is in line with what scripture actually speaks to and what the saints have revealed then yes, it can be trusted.
The vast majority of these testimonies are interesting, but hardly Earth shattering.
The old saw "great claims require great proofs" applies here. Any outrageous claims should be taken with a grain of salt.
In my studies I have found that reality is a good bit stranger than most would like, and not as cut-and-dried as most would like also.
