Immortality

Question:

If man will be immortal why must He eat from the Tree of Life? I submit that man never was nor ever will be immortal in and of Himself. Rather he will live then the same way he does now, God will give him life at the first resurrection.

Rev 2:7 NIV Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

Would this not simply say that those who are overcomers here on earth will be given everlasting life in the kingdom of God, by God Himself.
This is in contrast to everlasting death, which lies in the lake of fire.
I do not think physically eating an apple, for example, has much to do with it, but 'that' life is something that is brought to within you.

The paradise of God will be on the New Earth. I believe Rev 2:7 works off of Rev 22:1-2 NIV Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

Will Jesus Christ cease to exist at some point in eternity? I don't think so, as he is God! When a person become a new creation, Jesus Christ then becomes their new life. It is no longer I that lives, but Christ lives in me!!! You might want to rethink your position. Besides we are already eating from the tree of life. the Word of life produces a tree of life in us, which we are already bearing its fruit today. The fruit of the Spirit does not come from the person, it comes from the "seed" which produced it.

Hi CCW. Oh, I agree the river of life flows within us and the seed is in us..John 4:13-14 NIV & 1 John 3:9 NIV.

But Rev 22:1-5 NIV is specifically referring to the New Earth, Eden is restored. John is referring to the tree of life and the Paradise of God as a place on the New Earth.
