By His stripes we are healed

Matt 6:26 = God looks after us. Does a kid need to ask for food, medical attention and housing? No.
John 9:31 = The only requirement to God hearing our prayer is to be 'a worshipper of God'. This proves that nobody can pray a more effective prayer for 'healing' then you. Elders are however recommended by Paul as they can give wise counsel with prayer.

Thanks for the answer! I can agree with the fact that no one can pray a more effective prayer than you, but if one does not know God's Word...you can end up praying amiss.
Blessings!

Hi Jim. I feel you need to prove it is bodily healing as the context seems obvious.
Anyways back on topic, care to take a stab at post # 7?.

John 9:31 does not listen to sinners........but listens to those who worship Him and do His will.
What is His will ? What ever God tells us to do through His written word.
Example.........Mark 11:25.....when ye stand praying..........if ye have aught against any....
FORGIVE.........so that your Father which is in Heaven....May forgive you your trespasses.
Now then do you forgive every time you pray ? It is Gods will or a command....
Just to worship God is not going to get Him to move on your prayers if you are not walking in His will.

Example........girl likes boys and she goes bar hopping and sleeps at boys house and does bad things with boy then goes home and worships God and prays for 10 new boys.....Will God give her 10 new boys for her to play with ? Hey she did worship God.......crude but it does speak loudly......lol

Praying amiss on a prayer for healing is definitely possible but it is never as a result of not repeating / knowing 'secret' scripture. We only pray amiss if we are in unrepentant sin / are not in-Christ.

Lets say you had two kids. The one has read your will and when he gets sick or poor. He comes to you and says ''I claim / hold you to the promise you made to me in your will. I want my savings now so that I can go to the hospital / buy a mansion''. The other says '' I can't read, I am dumb, but please can you help me I am sick and or poor''. I would bet $1 million on God helping the dumb iliterate kid first. The other kid is simply disrespectful.

We are to always pray ''Lord your will be done''. We can not assume to know God's will on matters such as bodily healing and finanical prosperity. All we can hold God to is that He is good. At the end of the day once all is said and done we will grasp why God put us through what He did.

You might want to look up the definition of "salvation" both in the Greek and the Hebrew... Also look up some of the verb tenses of the promises in the Greek too.

This is not a promise from God. This is John greeting Gaius.

Please can you focus on the scitpure in the OP? I want to harp on the line ''by His stripes we are healed''. Because that is an 'absolute' statement. If it refers to bodily healing then we should all be healed.

You didn't comment on Rom 8:32...

Also if you doubt, you won't be heard:

James 1:6-7 KJV - But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Rom 8:32 is great verse. God is showing us His heart condition. But it is a rhetorical overstatement. It cannot be taken literally. Same as most of Matt 5. 'Do not resist and evil person' = allow our wife to be raped? 'God will give us all things freely' = I want your wife / I want to be president?

Can a Christian waver on a request for bodily healing?

1. Bodily healing requires less faith then a mustard seed. Each of us are given a measure of faith when first saved. This measure enables us to confidently believe a man who walked the earth 2000 years ago is God, saves us from our sins and will give us eternal bliss. It is likely 1 000 000 000 000 times more then a mustard seed. Ie, If we waver on faith for healing, we are simply not a Christian.

2. Is faith required for prayers of needs? Does your kid need to believe you will feed him before you feed him? You will not feed, clothe or attend to the medical needs of your nervous and iliterate kid first?

3. Faith that God exists and can do X and Y is the faith that unbelievers need / are working on. Not us. The neighbours kid needs to believe your kid telling him that you can and will feed and attend to his medical needs. Your kid, knows you will. Your kid grows each day with faith in you.

Sin and sickness are related. If there was no sin in the world there would be no sickness. You did notice when we became a child of God, the Lord did not do anything with our body. We are told to "present your body as a living sacrifice unto God...." We are not our body, we are the new man inside which is to present our body to God. Healing is not automatic, neither are any of God promises given unto us. We have to find them, extract the faith that comes by them, and then apply them to our body, or other things like God providing cloths, food, a job, housing. These things never come to on there own, we have to ask for them believing. We have not because we ask not. As a Christian we are not trying to convince the Lord to gives us these things, we are simply asking for things the Lord has already given unto us in his promises. Just because the Lord knows what things we have need of before we ask for them, does not mean we don't ask for them.

Luk 5:23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
Luk 5:24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

Mat 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

This is not a promise of bodily healing. It is a promise of spiritual healing. Just like promises of prosperity are for heaven.

No, it is a promise of both spiritual reconciliation and physical healing. Jesus took all of man's diseases on His body at the cross as well as our sins.

Don't ask me, ask Jesus. Matt 6:19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. Whatever scripture you think refers to prosperity on earth needs to be read in this light.

The disciples and early Christians sold all they had.

Prospering now:

Mark 10:29-30
29 “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, 30 will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
