the Lord's patience

2 peter....But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.a

11Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.b That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

14So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation,

U can read this chapter from two points of view,
1. God is patient with ALL mankind to come to repentance, a global evangelical point of view.
or
2. God is patient with ONLY his children to come to repentance.
It seems to be talking to His children and not about the world at large, since they are like the days of Noah marrying and giving in marriage till destruction came.

I would tend to view it in the other direction. Since Jesus dies on the cross for Everyone - then it seems to me God would be patiently waiting for those who so evers to repent and turn to Him through Christ Jesus.

When God feels or rather see's that His word has been preached to all in all then He will simply say - it is time - Go get your body. ;)
God Bless

I believe that His desire is that everyone come to repentance as vs 9 says. And i really appreciate that you have placed a reminder for us all that God is patient with us and loves us and desires for us to live Holy And Godly lives.

Blessings
