“Hallow the Fiftieth Year”: Sanhedrin Declares Year of the Jubilee

Very interesting!

So what does this mean? Nothing right now, at least to them. In order to celebrate a Jubilee, there are certain conditions that must be met, they declared them met, and so the counting starts, but to do that, there must be a declaration, so they declared that this year, 5776 (2015-2016) is the year of Jubilee. Now they can start counting to 50. Biblically they should of done this last 10 Tishri, but, it's a start.

Glory to God! This lines up with what the Holy Spirit declared through my pastor in January for this year. And the reson for the shemita last September :)
I receive God's full restoration in our life :)

They Jews may not care, but I believe God does. Everything we said might happen last September, I didn't realize that the year of Jubilee is also a shmita. We'll see what/if anything happens by Oct 3, 2016, that's 1 Tishri 5777.

I fully agree that He does. One of the pastors that we listen to was saying that God cared so much for the sabotth year's rest for the land that that is the reason for the 70 year exile in Babylon. God says that He watches over His Word to perform it, and none of His Word returns unto Him void. And if He cares for the little things like wildflowers and the hairs on our head....He certainly cares for us. It's all about grace. Especially when we come to Him with childlike faith, trusting Him to always keep His Word.

Jim and I watched about 4 hrs of Rabbi Jonathan Khan, and I believe he is the one that said it was a shmita. Learned some very good things during those episodes :) it was really interesting.

THE HARBINGER was Jonathan Cahn's first book and a humdinger it was too. It was so good that a lot of readers felt they'd participated in an old testament type of prophetic experience just from reading it. The book put Cahn on the map, so to speak. Unfortunately 'the map' had roads that led nowhere. One of those dead end roads led to a sequel. Everybody wanted another thrill, but THE MYSTERY OF THE SHEMITAH failed to give us one.

Those that had never heard of shabbat, the shemitah, or the Year of Jubilee definitely got an education in Cahn's second book. What they didn't get was a lesson in the application of Hebraic arithmetic. There are a number of reasons why it didn't work, but the biggest one was that Cahn let the reader down. After a huge build up and lots of expectations from THE HARBINGER, Cahn refused to make any firm assertions with regard to the future of mankind. By the last chapter Cahn felt compelled to deny almost every allegation he wrote earlier in the book.

"Personally, Lenny, I think it's a sign from God - but don't quote me on that." - Cardinal of New York from the movie GHOSTBUSTERS (1984) Columbia Pictures

Another of the dead end roads on Jonathan Cahn's road map to success was an association with Jim Baker, former 1980's TV evangelist and ex-con. Baker, who admitted to having never read the Bible until he went to prison, now has a regular show on the internet. He can usually be seen with Cahn sitting beside him. Unable to generate excitement on his own, Baker assumes the persona of a circus Ringmaster as he introduces religious variety entertainment in the guise of Christian spiritualism. The wolf has donned sheep's clothing once again and one of the coats Baker wears is the skin inhabited by Johathan Cahn. Personally, I'd like to believe Cahn is just a pawn in the heady game of notoriety, but with Baker steering his destiny I fear nothing good will come of the relationship for him or for us.

Calculations, which attempt to pin the Year of Jubilee on a goyim's Gregorian calendar, are doomed to failure because Biblical time-lines refer to the Hebrew calendar instead.

Therein lies one of the keys to the mystery of the End Times. Virtually all the Biblical predictions made in Hebrew Aramaic and Greek text are tied to ancient lunar calendars. (A lunar calendar calculates 1 year as 1 orbit of the moon, or 30 days. The Muslim religion still holds to this form of calendar.) The Gregorian or solar calendar we use today wasn't adopted until 1582, long after wise men had decided what was and was not canonical scripture. Add to this confusion of cultural methods of measuring the passage of time the fact that ancient Hebrews utilized a combination of lunar AND solar calendars. The result is that you can toss most estimates of dates and times right out the window. If we want to know what's going to happen we've got to start over with a new set of standards - or at least the same old ones that the prophets of ancient Israel used. Jonathan Cahn tried to do that in his second book, but succeeded in proving to one and all that he's more of a story teller than a mathematician.

"but about that day or hour, no one knows not even the son" - Jesus as quoted by Mathew 24:36

The problem is mathematical, not spiritual or prophetic. According to the Torah, the first Year of Jubilee was to be held in ancient Israel under the leadership of Joshua. It was never observed either in the first cycle of fifty years or any that followed thereafter. By the time of the Babylonian captivity, Jewish scholars had lost track of the proposed dates entirely. They simply didn't know when to observe the Year of Jubilee any more. When Jesus made the above statement quoted in the gospels, this was already a known accepted fact. Jesus was referring to a problem in mathematical calculation, not philosophical opinion.

The Year of Jubilee is inescapably tied to the End Times/second coming, but since nobody including the best Jewish scholars of our time (or Jesus' time) knows exactly when to start the count on the calendar it is impossible to calculate the day or the hour. Jesus knew this when he said it couldn't be done. It's about math, not mysticism. On the other hand, Jesus did leave us a few other clues which may be almost as good in enabling us to guess the time on God's prophetic clock. These other clues are Jonathan Cahn's fall back position these days.

Jesus also said that the best policy is to be prepared at all times. That too is good advice.

and that's me, hollering from the choir loft...
