Do you value your pastor?

Eph 4:11 — Eph 4:12
Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

How much do we value the gifts that God gives us? And do we honor God, by blessing and honoring those gifts?

Did you know that if we speak negatively and harshly about our pastor's and preachers that we are speaking and grumbling against God? Let's look at what happened to someone who spoke against Gods chosen. Read numbers 12. In it Aaron and Miriam spoke out against Moses. God took their complaints against Moses as a direct attack against Himself, and Miriam suffered consequences. But still in God's mercy, she didn't stay that way forever.

So many times in the Bible we see that those who have grumbled against Gods chosen are faced with consequences, because God considers those grumbles as direct attacks against Himself.

Those who honored God's chosen are rewarded.
Mat 10:40 — Mat 10:42
“Anyone who receives you receives me, and anyone who receives me receives the Father who sent me. If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet. And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs. And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”

In all that God is teaching me, I have come to realize how much Our Pastor's are a gift from God, and how much God values them. If we don't support them and uplift them, pray for God's blessings in their lives, and for God to pour out His godly wisdom and revelation knowledge, then we could loose them as our men of God that God can use to reveal precious promises and truths to us. Things directly from the kingdom that will benefit our lives here on earth.

Something else that God is teaching me is that we play a much bigger role in God ministering to us through them, than we actually realize. If we decide that there are topics that we don't want God involved in or areas of our lives that we don't want to submit to Him, or even sins and ungodly ways that we don't desire to give up, then those things can affect the messages that our pastor's preach.

If we dont pull on the anointing that God has placed in them, or the special gifts that God desires to bring about within them and within us, then our Pastor's will not be as effective as God has called them to be. For the Word that God desires to bring forth is greatly affected by the hearer. Even Jesus experienced this when He was preaching and teaching and healing. For in His home town He could do very little because of their unbelief. (Matthew 13:58)

So let's rally around, and uplift our pastors, and bless them...showing them and God how much we appreciate them!

Blessings to you all

I heard a story about a man who was not saved, and owned a bar. His wife was saved, and came to him asking him for some money to buy her pastor a new suit. He ended up giving her the money, and within a week his finances tripled. He asked his wife if the pastor needed any more suits :) eventually he ended up saved and entered the ministry himself. God surely did essential him and his wife for the blessing and honor they bestowed on the pastor.

Good thoughts sister.

We tend to see men on TV, preachers driving big cars and living in wonderful houses and forget that the great majority of Pastors do not live like that.

Many Pastors are bi-vocational because the church they serve can not afford a to pay a full time pastor. These men work full time and then have to study many hours so as to be prepared to speak on Sunday.

These men do not do that for money, fame and glory but instead they do it because they believe God has called them to that place and position. I for one applaud them and give them credit for the work that they do!!!!!

God bless all the Pastors who are trying to get out the word of God and make a difference in the world today!

1Ti 5:17 — 1Ti 5:18
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

Luk 10:7 — Luk 10:9
And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

Jeremiah 3:15 - And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

1Th 5:12 — 1Th 5:13
And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

How does this fit in?
I mean what point are you making with this statement?
Thanks Major!!

It is a statement of Fact Jim. I thought it was obvious.
The point I am making is that most pastors work hard, sometimes doing 2 jobs and they need to be and should be appreciated by their church just as CTurtle said.
The every day person has the tendency to see someone on TV and believe that they are well off and have no problems when in fact they be overwhelmed with concerns of all kinds.

Many men spend years in study and education and then God blesses them with a wonderful church ministry with all of the rewards that come with that. But those people still need to be appreciated and loved as much as anyone else.

But then the world is full of just common, everyday men and women who do the best they can with what they have and they are just as important as the other people. and they need to be appreciated as well.

What did you think I was saying?

The purpose of this thread is to teach us all what the Word of God says about Honoring Our Pastors. If anyone has any Scriptures that line up with this thinking please feel free to share them.

Blessings

1 Timothy 5:17 ............
"Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching."

Hebrews 13:17 ..........
"Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. "

Galatians 6:6...........
"One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches. "

Being part of a small Church has been a wonderful blessing for me. It helped me to be close with my Pastor and see his side of life. I think we should not leave out Pastor's wife. They play such a role in keeping together ladies of the Church. In my Church, they are just like my parents. I get their advice on many things and they love us so much as well.
