Hello brothers and sisters;

I don't know if this is already a thread but I was curious. What led you to give your log name and avatar here at CFS?

Proverbs 22:1, A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.

I have faith in Christ so gave myself the name Bob in faith. My avatar is because I like the color grey. lol!

Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

A king is a ruler of his life. In one's life, truly, the only person that has the choice is that person. In order for a king to relinquish his control and choose another to rule over them, they have to abdicate.

The only way to surrender to another is to abdicate their own throne. My wish is to abdicate my life to the King of Kings.

Shortly before I signed up this spring we took a trip to the ocean so that time was on my mind yet. And then the word "flock" had been showing up especially in scriptures I had been reading. Luke 12:32 "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." And the word flock made me think of birds. I love birds and one other time I chose a bird name on another forum years ago. This time I was thinking I would chose a bird's name and flock and ocean spoke to me of sandpipers who seasonally land near the shores in great numbers. I am part of God's flock--His people. He guides me in all seasons along with others in His flock. I am not alone. attaching photo of both of us at our rented condo overlooking the beach on my 80th birthday in April.

Ok Fish Catcher Jim
When I guided and or fished tournaments we did not go fishing but we always went Catching.

Back then if some one brought up fishing then my name always got brought up and if some one mentioned my name then fishing always got brought up.
I was told this by many.

God blessed me so much in this area that I had a Guarantee that if you did not catch fish then it was free.
I never gave any one a free trip for that reason.

God is Truly Teaching me to be a fisher of men and has used fishing in general in the past.

Fish and The Cross about sums it up for me.
Blessings

Well, everyone has something spiritual behind their name, except for me. lol

I like coffee, a nice strong brew with no sugar, no cream, just plain ole black coffee. A true connoisseur of coffee does not need sugar or cream or chocolate or caramel to enhance the flavor. A true connoisseur of the coffee wants to taste the quality of the bean itself.

I became a connoisseur completely by accident. I am not a morning person. I have been known (and seen) to run into walls in the morning at work before I have my coffee. I like to be alone sitting in my office until around 9:30 am. lol
Everyone in the office teases me and they all started saying how I am the coffee drinker and cannot function without it.
So no one ever wants to come to me until I have had my coffee.

this is why i chose CoffeeDrinker.

The avatar is my baby Griffin. He has a spunky funny personality. I rescued him and his brother (my yorkie micro) from a puppy mill around 8 years ago.

That is the truest statement of the day... lol :ROFLMAO:

I do not like the Seattle based coffee chain, it's not even that good, and way over priced. I don't even understand how people order those weird named drinks and all that fluff added that is nothing more than calories I do not need. Millennials are changing the way we drink our coffee.... :p

It means way of grief. I found it on the cheat sheet !
I was so miserable at the time I joined this site looking for a way out of emotional pain. I thought it would never end. Unrequited love/ limerence brought on depression and anxiety and is a sure killer of joy and peace and real Love. Now I'm not over the flesh completely I have at least one dream a month of unrequited love but at least I
Now have a Guide Book for the blind

So Shoo Satan! Be gone !

I've changed my Avatar 4 times now since joining CFS. The first was flowers I painted on an app on my iPad, the 2nd and 3rd were pictures of me, and the 4th and current one is a cross given to me and blessed by my uncle priest that I carry with me all the time. It is a mood thing with me. Depending on my mood I like to have it reflected in my avatar. My legal name is Louise, but Egraine is the screen name that I use everywhere because it better reflects who I really am inside. It is not a matter of trying to hide or be deceitful, but about how I feel about who I am and wanting to express my inner self to others. Working with just typed words and pictures on the Internet, there is a very narrow margin for getting across to others who you really are, so with me this is done via the avatar and screen name. I wish to hide nothing, which is why when I write I am always myself - I do not pretend to be someone I am not. If anyone on the Internet were to meet me in person, they would truly already know a great deal about me since what I write about myself is how I really am. I despise deceit in any form, but I also feel that it is prudent to protect oneself on the Internet (it is a fine line between protecting oneself and being deceitful, but it is not hard to delineate between the two).

It is written: "Whoever slanders their neighbour in secret, I will put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, I will not tolerate....No one who practices deceit will dwell in My house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in My presence." Psalm 101:5, 7

I had a college roomie named Delores back in the day. She shared with me that her name meant the same thing but she has had a wonderful life all the same. I am thanking God for guiding you here. May peace continue to fill your heart. Blessings.

My Screen name ( Siloam ) is taken from the 9th chapter of the Gospel of John. It is the name of the pool where the previously blind man washed his eyes in obedience to our Lord and gained his sight.

My avatar has several features:

The Bible, Cross, and praying figure should be self explanatory, but I should note that having the Cross central, and having it bounded by the Word, and prayer is intentional.

On the Lower left is a depiction of an atom. One of my earliest insights, predating my coming to a personal relationship with Jesus was that the movements of each electron around each atom in the universe moved because God willed it. It is an understanding of the infinitude of God, and that our very existence is through Him. I know that this is the Bohr planetary model, and that current physics makes this a simplistic understanding, but the understanding regarding God still applies.

On the lower right, is an hour-glass with a flash shape super-imposed to symbolize the creation of time. The realization that time is a created thing, and that God there-fore stands outside of time and can observe the fullness of eternity has also aided in my understanding of his prayer, providence, free-will, and predestination.

In the middle bottom is a little detail taken from James Tissot’s painting of the blind beggar washing at the pool of Siloam. It didn’t fare well in resizing, and compressing, but I kept it.

HisManySongs is a name my wife gave me in the Native American tradition. I have written music to be used in worship. I have also been a choir director.

My avatar represents the Light that always has and always will shine in the darkness.

"The Light still shines in the darkness. And the darkness has never, the darkness can never, the darkness will never put it out." - chorus from 'The Light Still Shines'
