Just a reminder...

"By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth" - Psalm 33:6

As Christians, I think, we don't often take moments to remind ourselves of Whom we worship. I know that I at times find myself questioning His motives or giving Him advice on how I think things should play out. Then every once in a while when I feel that I am of such stature that I should council God on certain issues, a verse like this comes along and reminds me of how insignificantly small I am and how unimaginably big He is. A God that breathes out stars. All those pretty little pricks of light in the night sky that we cannot even count. These billions and billions of stars that we see making up just one galaxy and there are billions and billions of them! Then I read about this star they have named UY Scuti and one cannot even begin to comprehend the size of this thing. I tried reasoning it like this: it takes the earth just over 365 days to orbit the sun...if we were travelling at the speed of light this trip would take us approximately 52 minutes. If we were travelling at the speed of light and we were to circumnavigate this one star...it would take us about 7 hours! Our God just breathes out these giants...billions of them!

Then my brain almost explodes and I humble myself because I am reminded: "What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? " (Psalm 8:4) and I answer myself: blessed beyond comprehension!

I was once confronted on a chat group by a man who was trying to make fun of my faith. When I asked him what he believed he gave me this long story about the different gods and it turned out he worshipped Apollo, the sun god. He ranted and raved and gave me about a thousand reasons why he did so, to which I replied; "I am not going to argue with you...I just want to say that if you worship the sun, that is for you to decide, but I have decided to worship the One that created the sun that you worship." Just like that a light must have come on somewhere in his mind, and thereafter he actually asked me a couple of questions and I had the opportunity to tell him a little bit about Jesus. I guess all I want to say is that it is awesome to be a child of the one true living God and to believe in the God of gods and the King of kings.

Have a blessed day!
