The Blood of Christ

Spurgeon said, “The wounds of Jesus have become doors of grace through which divine love comes forth to the vilest of the vile.” Does the blood of Christ speak peace to your heart? “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound!” Do you hear the voice of the blood?

There is no mercy to be given without blood. No righteousness to be vindicated without blood. And no peace to be purchased without blood!

If the blood of bulls and goats sanctified the unclean under the Old Covenant, “How much more shall the blood of Christ ... purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Heb. 9:14).

I have been reading / researching / understanding The Blood of Christ. I am learning that the Blood Has a voice.
Not only does the blood bring redemption, sanctification, etc. It speaks to us. If we listen, we will hear.

A friend once asked me why Christians wear crosses. She said it seemed morbid that we celebrate the death of Christ, and plaster the equivalent of the Romans' electric chair on our buildings, jewelry, and so on. It's true we do place a lot of emphasis on blood, death, and sacrifice.

There are some who go so far as to say the blood of Christ is somehow special. I would tread carefully there. Yes, the act of Christ having His blood spilled as He did is special. That is to say, His death and resurrection are the lynchpins of our religion. The blood itself, however, is blood. It's red cells and plasma, just like what you'll find in anyone.

For years, artifacts like the Shroud of Turin (the proposed burial shroud placed around Christ's body) have been considered special. Some say they have healing powers, but as Christians, we should recognize the source of any power. God does provide power for us and to us, and sometimes He uses objects to do so. For example, a young girl in Africa who had been taken hostage was surrounded by lions who did not harm her, and would not allow her captors to come near her.

Creation is a servant to its Creator, and the blood of Christ was created by God. There is significance in His sacrifice, in the act of His blood being spilled, but it is the power of God we rely upon. Spurgeon spoke in wonderful metaphors, but that's all they are. I would encourage anyone to remember it's not the blood, but God who has used the blood to show His power.

1 John 1 : 7
But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

The Blood always equates Life.
The Blood of Christ is Crucial.

Just as Jesus said in John 6:56
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

This may seem strange to the natural mind but to the Spiritual mind it is vitally important.

There is power in the Blood of Christ. In the natural you can not see it but in the Spiritual a born again believer is covered in it.

How about Ephesians 1:7
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

No Friend, there is power in the Blood of Christ even if one can not see it in the natural.

Blessings

I did not say the blood of Christ isn't powerful. I only pointed out there is power in the blood because God gives it that power. We have righteousness because God used the blood of Christ to make us righteous. The blood was powerless without God's use of it.

I understand we all have our different views, but I think I disagree with you. I do believe in the power of God and I also believe that Jesus blood was perfect and is powerful in itself.

I understand. We disagree on the blood of Christ, but we agree that God is powerful. I would also agree that Jesus was and is perfect and powerful, because He was and is God. My question, then, is how you've arrived at the conclusion Christ's blood has autonomous power? What evidence led you to that conclusion?

The blood removes our sins
The blood gives life - eternal life
The blood allows the HS to work in us - it bears witness with us
The blood justifies us and saves us
The blood redeems us
The blood brings reconciliation to God
The blood allows us to enter into the holiest of places with God himself. Because of the blood of Christ you can now enter freely
The blood makes us righteous and holy
The blood makes us an over comer

The blood of Jesus is more powerful than us and more powerful than the enemy of this world. The blood of Christ provides us with protection from the enemy of this world. The Blood is the link between us and heaven. It provides a witness to the Holy Spirit.
The blood of Christ allows us to take dominion over the enemy and hell. I could go on and on. I think all of this makes the blood of Christ most powerful in every way because the blood covers all things.

Dear CoffeeDrinker and Cleave;

Ephesians 1:7, In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

By the Blood of Jesus - forgiveness of our trespasses which leads to our restoration and His Blood according to the riches of His grace, these three alone and beyond is evident of His power, but not conclusive. The more we drink the Word of God the more we see His unlimited power, not just by the Blood, but by His immeasurable LOVE, mercies, grace and salvation.

Evidence - I encourage all of us, challenge ourselves to dig deep into the text of His Word. The Lord communicates His Word to us in written form. Then allow our faith and outreach application summate what we read.

God bless you all and thank you for starting this thread and posts.

Hello brother Cleave;

Thank you for your posts and I do see some points here. I don't believe "celebrate" is the word, but "grateful" for the death of Christ, followed by "celebration" of Christ risen.

The blood of Christ is special, not to blow trumpets to attract attention, but what He did for us, His followers, in corporate or private worship to our Lord.

I wear my cross around my neck and confess this to Jesus, daily, once again not to blow trumpets but as my witness for Christ. This has been effective in my walk daily with my wife, family, church family and community (I evangelize to the business hubs in Daly City.)

I wanted to share this from my heart to you, brother Cleve, God bless you, always!

You've listed what the blood of Christ does, from your perspective. How is the blood made powerful? Where does it get its power from?

I believe it gets it power from God himself, which makes his blood all powerful. You are right, it's a matter of perspective.
This is what I believe. I do believe He is most / all powerful and I believe His blood is all powerful in every way. If the blood of Christ can conquer death / raise from the dead, heal, etc., I believe the blood is all powerful.

I think I've made the point that God is the one who gives Christ's blood its power. I didn't mean for anyone to think I was attempting to start a debate. I only wished to point out that God is the one who deserves our reverence, not the inanimate blood of Christ. Without God, any blood would be meaningless.

Apparently I'm not communicating that well, so I'll leave it there.

Hello Cleave;

God bless you. Keep writing! If anything, you nudged me to think about this and go to Jesus in my commune with Him.

As far as debate, I'm terrible at debates. I always let my wife have the last word. When she's right, she's right. When she's wrong, she's right. lol!

It's all good and thank you, brother. Please keep writing!

I agree. I believe what God says. It is what it is.
If we are questioning God's Written Word Then we are not operating in or by Faith and Scripture tells us in Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

And we know we would rather be Pleasing unto God then Displeasing. ...

Blessings
