Alexa - The Echo Dot

A coworker gave me an Alexa - Echo Dot for Christmas last year. I did not know what to think of a gift like that.
Part of me was thinking Amazon is in cahoots with the government and they are listening to me in my home. Part of me thought, this is awesome.

I started playing with Alexa and talking to her so much I was dreaming Alexa in my sleep. One day while driving to work I actually said, "Alexa, play Bethel Music". Problem was I was in my car and my car radio does not respond to Alexa comments. That was a hilarious moment. I think I want to buy one for my office. These things can work with lists, calendars, etc. It's amazing.

Not sure what to think of these things; are they good or bad? Have we gone too far?

Does anyone else have an Echo? If yes, what are your thoughts? It's scary what all these things can do. Alexa can sync with my refrigerator, lights, alarm system, etc.
Alexa can place my orders to Amazon... the list goes on and on.

I wouldn't worry about it, they got bigger fish to fry. Plus, most houses have many ways of remote sensing in TVs and phones, cars, etc. They have technologies that can track 1000 people simultaneously, probably more now, by use of public remote sensing aids. It is fun technology, it feeds the snoop in us all. But, they are paranoid too, someone IS out ta get them. (Rev19:11-21) LOL

But they got some time left.

Aren't you being a bit like the chap in Luke 12:18 ? (Only joking)
Um, make a bigger pocket? Ugh. Now my small phone doesnt work because I had to use the sim from it in the new one. Well someone offered it to me and it was only $25 as much as I paid for my old one. Maybe I should have held out for a free one. But my old one was playing up, so I figured get with the times. The case cost half as much as the phone.
I just keep it in my bag and people can ring or txt me on breaks I'm not carrying it on me anymore.

Recall, World Government would be impossible if it could not first be modeled digitally. So, it ushers in a new era of human development towards the terminus of all prophecy: The 8th King World Government of Revelation 17:8-18 around, my guess, 2030. Now, even the global stock markets are networked and able to run auto-pilot or by true quasi-AI driven "virtual reality"--- so they can control the severity of any crash now through the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) "fusion center" so to speak. The "Web" has a center and its has a spider, btw. Your phones and devices are probably more dangerous in the microwaves they use than in their basic functionality. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yea the microwaves and radiation are why they more dangerous than any kind of spying going on. I mean who's really got the time to spy on other people, its like watching tv, only way more boring. And besides if you are living an upright life, what have you got to worry about or hide? I am really not that interested if my neighbour goes to the toilet or is having a sizzling hot midnight affair with chocolate.

The spying is automated more as a security precaution rather than detecting criminals. For example, you can analyze all cell phone data and actually connect certain GPS tracks to places where bodies had been dumped or buried, but they won't give that to the cops because general crime is what keeps the local judicial system alive. They can also detect criminal activity with this same use of cell phone usage data and its cross call information. Believe it or not most local law enforcement does not even know this stuff is in use-- what I mean is they know about big criminal stuff going on, but that is business as usual they do not need to use it at this time and maybe never, depends on if they need a card on some agency or not. As far as the average citizen who has like a million pages of profiling information in Google and NSA combined are just logged for the obligatory completeness of their work, law abding citizens have nothing to fear really, but everything with any wireless connection can be called up in a pseudo interface by a number of companies and agencies, so there is no privacy in the wireless world, they have a snapshot virtual desktop of all these systems. Just in case. It was way beyond the couple tips of icebergs just mentioned. The problem is if an algorithm misidentifies some one or forms an erred diagnosis of what they are up to, that is the worst that could happen imo. For example, people have been fired at Google for having 10 year old deleted blogs that mentioned Silicon Valley programmer union ideas, just in a research paper, a decade ago+.

Just posting this here to make everyone aware of some potential issues with some of these smart devices...
This article was just published on 6/21/18, and discusses security flaws/privacy & control concerns that have been discovered. If you own one of these, it's a good idea to at least be aware of what is actually possible, and how to avoid those problems..

While technology seems to be inevitable, some technology development may not be in our best interest and should be avoided. Many of these devices send personal data back to a central cloud data collection location without the owner of the device being aware of it or authorizing it. That information is used by the originators of the technology to track your movements, your purchases, your internet history and your identity. Some of these devices can take unauthorized video of you, your family and your home and can record personal conversations. Much of this is done for marketing purposes and your information is sold to other companies, but regardless of safeguards, your information can be hacked by criminals to steal your identity and to gain money profits at your expense.

Remember back to the times when there were no smart phones, no computers, email or internet and no credit cards. It was a much safer environment for citizens - with no electronic intrusion into their lives, with little or no identity theft and no marketing companies saturating their lives with promotions and sales. It is OUR fault for allowing technology companies to get away with their underhanded methods of gaining information for profit. If we do our research and stop purcasing these devices, there will be no incentive for these companies to exist. However, over the years, most citizens have become desensitized to the potential catastrophic consequences of these devices and continue to be manipulated by corporate administrators who target YOU to get your money one way or the other.

Good point thats why I dont keep things in 'the cloud' or whatever it is.
The other day I got this thing on my smartphone saying I had won a prize, and I dont ever remember entering any competition. It turns out its a CHANCE to win a prize, because if you click on a link it takes you to this thingwhere you have to fill out a survey and tick all these boxes so more marketing junk can be sent to you, in the guise that you are claiming a prize, and only gives you a minute to fill out, claiming that if its not, then the prize is gone.

Then you get calls whether you ticked a box or not, from marketing people saying oh you were interested in Such and such. Insurance, HRV, funeral cover, whatever thing you dont even need.

Please dont fall for these scams. Be very wary of emails that say youve won lotto, when you havent even bought a ticket or entered any draw. Chance to win prizes also, is just marketing speak for being put on a mailing list.

If telemarketers start ringing, you just tell them you are busy (you are, because they always ring at dinner time) and that you will call them back. They usually just hang up without even leaving their number. OR, as one person told me, he just said Im not interested in your product but have you heard about Jesus Christ?

I have one echo I keep in my kitchen as a timer and I use it to listen to devotionals and to read to me the scripture of the day. It also does scripture memory with you. I have another one that I keep on my desk at work as a timer and I listen to my devotionals in the morning. I sometimes get the weather and that's all I use mine for. If anybody is listening to me, they will hear the bible playing...lolol...You want to listen to something, listen to what God says.

Honestly I have never heard of this product it must be an american thing, we dont have it here in nz. Yet.
I remember when blackberries were all the rage, no it wasnt the actual fruit, but like the precursor to smartphones. It seemed like every business person had to have one so they could do more work when they were out and about. Or maybe they had them just to look busy but in actual fact they were just using it to play games. i dont know!
