Dear Brothers and Sisters;

No doubt, your children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren are treasures to you, praise God! I wanted to share that my 1 year old niece is adorable.

I dedicated her in the church, she is at church every Sunday, is the youngest member in her future children's group and loves to make noise when I'm giving the sermon. lol!

At home she is very healthy, laughs alot and is loved and nurtured by everyone in our house hold.

My wife and I don't have children and there are a few things I don't have the answers to. I trust she is in good hands with her Dad and Mom and of course, our Lord.

But I cannot help but "worry" about her everyday - falling, choking on a piece of food or what to do when she wants to eat what I'm eating.

I will get annoyed when I'm trying to study or sleep because she makes loud noises early in the morning.

She always wants attention from my wife so I will feel neglected.

I have these talks with my wife during our devotionals but her replies are, "get over it!", or "seriously, Bob!"

I know better, but am I feeling jealous, or is this normal even for a grown up?

I would be grateful for any thoughts you can share. Keep in mind I love my niece very much.

God bless you all and your children.

lol... normal.

In time, you'll learn to adjust better... but you will always worry about them... especially when they get sick, or hurt, or start school, field trips, and a million other things. As for the jealousy, totally normal... many people actually go through alot of mental distress after having a new baby- especially the Moms. Many get very depressed. A baby or young child brings endless joy, as well as challenge and stress.. but you'll be fine. Your feelings are normal and will settle down and level off soon enough. The more time you spend playing with her, the more fun you'll have.. enjoy the opportunity to be a kid again :) Spend play time with her yourself, and she wont be quite so demanding of your wife's attention, plus you'll find it's fun!
I'm glad you are blessed with this experience, and I know she is blessed to have you & your wife in her life... Turn your worries over to God & trust- that's all you can do with them. They don't just go away, but we have to learn not to allow ourselves to dwell on them. You do the best you can, & leave the rest to God.

-God bless

As you commit her to the Lord... trust Him to take care of her and to lead you as to what to do in different situations... however as Jesus told Jairus... stop the fear (worry) only believe :) pray ps 91 over her consistently and a hedge of protection.

Having a little one around does require us to give up our own space and self centered things or attention. For because they don't know any better than they are taught... they do require lot of attention and care... and yes if your not used to it or ready to share consistently your wife.. it will take some training the flesh to submit to lovingly godly ways. It does not mean you don't love her... it just means your used to your routines and have to ask Father to help you adjust.

Something I got from the Holy Spirit... instead of worrying about her choking... take a class or watch a YouTube video on what to do if that happends. Then you won't panic because you don't know what to do. If you inform yourself or arm yourself with knowledge about the things that may be a concern... you produce strength (proverbs 24:5.....
A wise man is strong and is better than a strong man , and a man of knowledge increases and strengthens his power; [Prov. 21:22; Eccl. 9:16.]
Proverbs 24:5 AMPC...

5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength... kjv
