Dear brothers and sisters;

For those who serve, or have served in the music ministry, what was your experience with the praise and worship team?

I play the guitar, harmonica and am a second tenor. My first praise and worship team was required to train how to lead worship and working together as a team.

In 2000 we recorded a CD and the proceeds went to missions and churches overseas.

What musical instrument did you play and do you still play today?

God bless you and your families.

I do not sing and I do not play any instrument, but I love worshiping God through music. I love praise and worship during church. I am moved and can feel God during praise and worship. I love it. It would be such a blessing to worship God through singing. I wish I could carry a tune. Music is powerful. It's no wonder the enemy has grabbed a hold of it to turn it against God with all the secular music and horrible words.

Music is beautiful and touches the soul......... sure wish i could sing and play an instrument... you are fortunate.

I cant say I've been on a praise and worship team as my musical talents are minor. I can strum a guitar and thats about it. I am an alto. I have tried to learn music but its never been my gift. Its enough that I know the words to sing His praises than worry about the accompaniement and whether that chord is B or D or whatever!

But I have taught a lot of children bible songs played on a cd and singing along, and also dance moves. I think action songs are the best where you can act out the words. Children are very forgiving as they arent concerned if you cant play correctly as long as they are having fun.

If a praise and worship song is memorable thats the best because I can make melody in my heart when I am alone with Him.

I've always wanted to be on the worship team but have been too shy for some reason. I feel like I'm not spiritually ready? Maybe? But I need to not live in Fear and get out of that habit because it does take over my life! I do remember when we had open mic night at church.. I brought my keyboard piano and had written a song about God and the beauty in the world.. I played and sang and remember my legs shaking badly but instantly it went away within the first ten seconds I was up there and after I was finished the whole entire place was filled with people clapping. I was the happiest that day! I loved singing that song about God and I could only imagine how amazing it would feel to be able to worship on the worship team and really experience God like that all that time! I bet it's an amazing feeling!

Hello Lanolin,

I always thought you were involved with children's ministry. Yes, music is wonderful for teaching kids to sing and dance, in the name of Jesus.

As far as being an alto, most Christian singers are either alto or second tenor.

God bless you and your family.

Hello Godiswithme1922;

If you ever make it up to the Bay Area, we need a guitarist and singer!

God bless you, brother.

Hi Lanolin;

I am so grateful to God, He gets all the glory for this opportunity to produce the CD. We prayed and discussed the reason why we were led to do this project. It felt the Lord confirmed our prayers so we started rehearsing and recording in March 2000. It took 8 months to complete. In December 2000 we had a nice gathering in the sanctuary and played the songs live. The CD sold in parts of the Philippines, Turkey, United States, Canada, Indonesia, other countries, as far as Australia. Every penny earned went to help 3rd world countries.

It's 18 years later and have a few left. If anyone wants a copy the church will be happy to mail one to you as our gift.

God bless you and your family.

Wow that is so cool. Yes please. I was looking at my cd rack yesterday and thinking its a bit empty and needs some new praise and worship music.

One that I listen to a lot in my car is Scripture in Song. The Garetts had an amazing music ministry back in the 80s, this was before I was a christian so had never heard of them till one day i was at a second hand christian bookstore and was offered a free cassette and I just loved the music. Very easy to sing to and simple, and memorise. They started out not even knowing any music or how to play but God taught them everything and their music is so anointed.

I found that, it is not necessarily musical talent that makes a good worship musician in Gods eyes cos you could be an amazing opera singer but if you dont believe in your heart than all you are doing is just performing.
