What is your understanding of 1000 years without satan and when Satan was thrown down to Earth as it says in the book of Revelations?

Hi. I have asked two questions because they both have subject of Satan in common. I’ll paste first from the first verses and then elaborate and then the second. Ok:

20 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven. He had in his hand a key to the hole without a bottom. He also had a strong chain. 2 He took hold of the dragon, that old snake, who is the Devil, or Satan, and chained him for 1,000 years. 3 The angel threw the devil into the hole without a bottom. He shut it and locked him in it. He could not fool the nations anymore until the 1,000 years were completed. After this he must be free for awhile.

Has the above happened or it is supposed to happen. If it’s supposed to happen, then when?

And the second: Revelation 12:7-12

7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers[a] has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. 12 Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”

Ok, wasn’t satan he who deceived Eve in the garden? So wasn’t he on earth ever since?

Again I need someone with a lot better knowledge than me and to elaborate please.

Thanks

Relation is full of symbolic images. It was given directly to the Apostle John from Christ in a series of visions while John was on the island of Patmos.

As far as when:

Rev 1:19
Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

So, you can expect to find references to John's present day, as well as the future.

The letters to the churches relate most specificly to the churches of John's day, although there are lessons for today's churches.

Most of the rest of Revelations is in John's future. Many believe we are entering or are about to enter those days.
My own opinion is of little import, but I would like to point out that we have been in the end times, anticipating the return of Christ since the assention.

Lately I have been looking into what has been termed "The Great Disappointment" when the followers of Miller was expecting Christs return in the first half of the 1800's. This gave rise to the Adventist movement.

The point is, we have always been expecting Christs imminent return. There are many indications that Paul expected it in his lifetime, or soon after.

At His return, he should find us at His work.

If you are interested in Revelation, I would encourage you to become familiar with Old Testament Prophets (Particularly Jeremiah, and Daniel). Revelation continually references images and events from these. It is unlikely that much will make sense unless one understands the prophecies,

I do not have anymore knowledge than anyone else here on CFS. I do however appreciate your question and I respect your reason for asking it.

The 1st question is actually based on Revelation 29:1-3. It has not happened yet.

This event as posted is at the very end of the 7 year Tribulation Period. It takes place AFTER Armageddon and before the 1000 year rule of Christ which is called the "Millennium".

There could never be any peace with Satan on the prowl. He must be removed from the earth's scene before the Millennium can take place.

Lets look at those Scriptures carefully, shall we. Rev. 20:1...….."An angel ….He had in his hand a key to the hole without a bottom. He also had a strong chain."

Even before this angel takes action, we know that he is on a mission from the throne having divine authority. He is a STRONG/Powerful angel.
I personally am a believer in the LITERAL sense of the Scriptures. However, in this case, this is not a literal chain, but a figure describing the angel’s authority and ability to restrain Satan.

Now...Rev. 12:7-12.

To properly grasp those Scriptures, one must consider verses 1-6 for correct context.

In those Scriptures we see that "The Woman" is Israel.
The Red Dragon is Satan.
The Child of the woman is Jesus Christ.

This event happened thousands of years ago but Satan has access to the earth today. HE is the price of the power of the air. However, he also has a "limited access" to God today. (See #1 below).

Then we come to Rev. 12:7-9 which is still in our future. Those Scriptures END Satan's access to God and are yet future. Here are some things to know...…..

1. Satan does not have open access to God’s presence. He is summoned by God.
2. The visits are temporary. His time before God’s throne is limited.
3. In no way is the purity of heaven tainted by the brief, God-ordained presence of a sinful being, "quarantined," as it were, by God’s regulatory power.
4. Satan’s access is only granted prior to the final judgment. After the judgment, God creates a new heaven and new earth, wipes away all tears from our eyes, reveals the New Jerusalem, and promises the complete absence of sin which is what Rev. 20:1-4 demands.

Please understand that I am no expert on your questions and I am sure some will disagree with me and that is completely normal.

What I explained is the way in which all the Scriptures are allowed to come together and fit perfectly with out any forcing or explaining or "spiritualizing".

I hope I have been of some assistance to you and may the Lord bless you and keep you safe in this trying days.

I appreciate your comments and agree. I would say that from Revelation 4:1 is all future events.

I have done extensive work on the "Great Disappointment" in the past and may I say that unfortunately, our rules here do not allow me to say to much about it. YES...….....his production lead to the "Seven Day Adventist" denomination.

I will be able however to say that the event clearly exposes the words of men/prophets to be completely in error and the Word of God is always correct.
In MY OPINION......there are NO prophets today. There are TEACHERS and PREACHERS and EVENGELISTS who teach and expound the Word of God.

American history, and world history for that matter, is filled with examples of false prophecies. William Miller was perhaps one of the earliest false prophets of the American republic. And when you do your examination you will discover the Ellen G. White picked up where Mr. Miller left off.

If you will examine this story you will discover that Mr. Miller came to predict that the Second Coming of Christ had to take place between March 1843 and April 1844, through his "own personal" interpretation of scripture. You would think that being wrong TWICE would have killed that movement, but it did not do so.

The story of William Miller captures some of the spirit that was present in the early Republic, particularly with the role of religion in Americans’ lives. Many Americans were profoundly religious and had attributed America’s success to that point to divine intervention.

Mark 13:32...….
"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Correct my brother. Especially Daniel. It has been said that The Revelation is the unfolding of the book of Daniel.

Hi Major, I am always happy to see your posts.

Yes, in the sense that, for example, Isaiah was a prophet, none are among us. None are needed, we have the Word, and we have the Spirit.

However, in the general sense, we should all be prophets. Not in the sense of fore-telling, nor in some supposed addition to the scriptures, but prophecy in general includes forth-telling (spreading the truth). We should all be forth-tellers of the work of Christ.

I agree completely with you and Thank you for the kind words and I am blessed to know that we are on the same page.

In the New Test. the actual word for "Prophesying" in the New Testament context, prophet means somebody who forth-tells—who preaches something strongly, in a straightforward manner, giving the truth of a matter.
