Do we love the world?

Israel had came to dwell in Egypt, there thgey found rest and provision but this was not the place of God's promise- they had a higher calling.

Psa 105:23 Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
Psa 105:24 And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.
Psa 105:25 He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.
The hand of God had turned thier very source of comfort and provision against them. This was to be only a pit stop on thier way to the promised land but perahps Israel had grown to comfortable to move on.

Psa 105:27 They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
Psa 105:28 He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.
Psa 105:29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.
Psa 105:30 Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.
Psa 105:31 He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.
Psa 105:32 He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.
Psa 105:33 He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.
Psa 105:34 He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,
Psa 105:35 And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.
Psa 105:36 He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

The plagues God sent to destroy the world's system also served as a reminder to God's people; the things we try to depend upon in this world can be lost in an instant. As long as our dependance is on the Lord Himself and not the things around us we will never be dissapointed.

Amen. Thank you, brother Larry!

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
(1Jn.2:15-17)

...know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
(Jas.4:4)

So often our focus is in the wrong place; on the wrong things.
When will we learn to lean on and trust God fully.
We spend so much time in worry when it could/should be better spent on worship and praise~trusting in the LORD with all our heart!

Funny .... Is it my computer or the site.? I did this several times and it comes out the same. When I tryed to quote.

Especially in North America and yes even Christians put too much emphasis on material things which could be gone in a flash. Just ask ask flood or earthquake victims. I learned a long time ago when the house where I was living was robbed and all my jewellry, money and things that I thought I valued were gone. From that day forth, what I have , I give thanks to the Lord and if I don't have I still give thanks. We are told in everything give thanks that is the will of God. If we want to look at other countries who are just rying to survive from day to day how much more should we be grateful for what we have.

Just recently a missionary friend brought a pastor from Haiti who has never been out of his country.to visit in Canada. He could not believe that people live so as he said luxuriously. He was shocked.

So as Brother Larry says.... lets get back to basics and put our dependence on Him and stop worrying what tomorrow will bring cause the Lord says ... tomorrow will take care of itself.

Amen and amen! Where our treasures are, there shall our heart be also.
